IMG_20251007_110554.jpg Today marked another family journey for me, my mother, and my grandmother, a trip to NGC in Bacolod for medical assistance. These trips have become a regular part of our routine, a testament to our commitment to ensuring Grandma recieves the care and support she needs. And, as is our custom, we made sure to head out bright and early.

IMG_20251007_110425.jpg Going early isn't just about avoiding the notorious Bacolod traffic, it's a strategic move to prevent ourselves from being swallowed by the inevitable crowds that gather as the day progresses. The last thing we want is for Grandma to be uncomfortable or for us to have a hard time navigating a packed environment, especially when we're trying to secure essential medications and treatment assistance. A calm, unhurried start makes all the difference.

IMG_20251007_094313.jpg Upon, arrival, the process began. We made our way to the relevant offices, and my mother, with her practiced efficiency, handled the necessary paperwork and discussions. It always takes a while, navigating through the various steps to get the payroll needed for the medications and treatments, especially for Grandma. The clock seemed to tick by slowly, but we remained patient, knowing that each step was needed for her well-being. After what felt like an hour or so, perhaps a bit more, all the necessary documents were acquired, and we had the crucial payroll in hand. It's always a small victory when that part is done.

IMG_20251007_115327.jpg With the NGC mission accomplished, our next destination was downtown. This was where we planned to purchase all the medications Grandma required. But before diving into another round of errands, a critical pit stop was in order, Merzci, a beloved local bakeshop and pasalubong center, holds a special place in our hearts for its delicious, affordable snacks. It was the perfect place for a quick bite, a little reward after the bereaucratic. We chose some of favourite foods and perhaps a cold drink, allowing ourselves a moment to refuel and relax before continuing our mission.

Armed with the payroll and prescriptions, we efficiently bought all the necessary medications for Grandma. It's always a relief to have those in hand, knowing that her treatment plan can continue uninterrupted.

IMG_20251007_130847.jpg With everything successfully acquired, there was only one thing left to do, head straight home. The day had been filled with movement, waiting, and important tasks. By the time we reached our doorstep, a sense of quiet exhaustion had settled over us. The best course of action was clear, rest. We made sure Grandma was comfortable, her medications safely stored, and then each of us retreated to our own spaces for some much deserved relaxation. Today was a reminder of the quiet dedication involved in caring for the loved ones. It wasn't an exciting day, perhaps, but it was a day filled with purpose, culminating in the satisfaction of knowing we had done our best to look after Granma. And as always, getting home safe and sound, with all tasks completed, was the most comforting feeling of all.
