But my username is Cristypatata it's because my name sounded like this food (Crispy patata) here in the Philippines. My friends and classmates before used to call me that name and tease me. I grew up in a non-wealthy family the main livelihood is farming, our house is surrounded by rice fields. I am the fifth out of six siblings. When I was young, we were trained to harvest rice to help my mother and so we could have rice to eat every day because that was the only thing my parents knew for a living. Because of our situation, we experienced that we could not even buy delicious food, toys and even nice clothes. My parents are one of those who did not study or finish even highschool because of the distance of school before, they need to walk very far every day to go to school and because their life was also difficult they chose not to study and just live as farmers. My two sisters and I were able to finish grade six because of my mother's persistence because our father also worked but his priority was his vices. Our eldest and our second siblings decided to get married early. After I finished grade six, my mother was forced to let me work as a nanny for a year. Because life was already hard, I agreed and I also wanted to help them. After a year, my mother decided and let me go to school. But the same year I graduated highschool, she told us there was a lump on her breast and we find out she have a breast cancer and it was already stage 3. It's because we need a lot of money to her medicine and chemo therapy my father sold our other rice fields to get treatment for her and me I decide again to work as a housekeeper. Because the money we accumulate was not enough for my mother's treatment. After 1 year of being hospitalized and chemo my mother couldn't handle it, she left us 9 years ago now. I became the Bread winner in the family at the age of 21 because my two sisters got married at the age of 23. I am the one who supports my younger brother to go to school and he graduated grade 12. And because of this work, I also had rennovated our house that was destroyed by typhoon Yolanda. After my brother graduated from grade 12, our house has been repaired, and our debt was paid off, I stop working and I rest after a month. I found another job at a resort where I found my husband now. ![IMG_20250828_204409.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/crstypatata/23wqeQqusQAvSLswZwmB8eKoXK61toCpLFEVks8SrZTfPtRprbFExqZDB3jHury3cuH5n.jpg) ### I'm a Mom I am now a mother to my handsome son, the one I love and cherish every day. I will never let him go through all the hardships I experienced in life. I will do everything to give him a good life no matter what and I'm trying to be a good mom to him. ### Things I love to do ***Read Confessions.*** *I love reading confessions of someone, scary stories posted on a page that I see in my news feed, also some history of the Filipinos. I like reading them because they are true to life. Their experiences in life gives me a life lesson, too.* ***Watching Drama & Reels*.** *One of the things I do when I have free time while taking care of my baby is to watch videos like dramas and movies. What I want to watch the most are videos of content creators online now, especially on Reels. They create content that can make you laugh, angry and sad at the same time also some of them give advices in life.* ***Buying Clothes.*** *Buying clothes was one of my hobbies when I didn't have a family yet. I buy at the mall and online store sometimes because it's expensive. I prefer buying at the Thrift store. I often buy clothes at thrift stores because they are cheap and some of the clothes are branded. I only choose to buy new ones and I can see that they still have tags which means that no one has ever used them. At home, I boil them in hot water and soaked it first before washing. I only buy clothes for myself at the thrift store, but when it comes to my Baby clothes, I buy them online.* ### The Place I Love ![received_889726419074085.jpeg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/crstypatata/23x1L4ciktXLpeGZvsexVQqXTykhuDT63zLzzmtiNyhcj5yycHxqmSiiV4zYhRcjbiNjz.jpeg) **Boracay.** *This is the place that I can say give you a true peace of mind when you are having a vacation, you can truly relax on the beach. Boracay is one of the most beautiful beaches here in the Philippines, many tourists come here. If I only afford to visit here again, this is the place I will definitely go back to.* During the pandemic days, I was the lucky ones who was able to join a writing platform like hive, I enjoy writing my life there. I learned that as a writer is not easy but if you love to write you will enjoy what you do. even though I don't know how to write and speak English before. I'm so thankful that there is a platform like this where I can earn through blogging. # Why did I join Hive? I want to join hive cause I want to express my thoughts and share my experiences in life through blogging, because personally, I really don't like talking to other people unless they talk to me and open up to me. Through writing, I feel like someone is listening to me especially in what I've been through. Even though I'm still not good in English, I am willing to learn, grow and explore this platform. I am thankful to join here at hive, I'm excited to know you all here and also excited about what I will learn here. Thanks to hive no more hiding about what I experienced in life.
