What makes a true disciple of Jesus Christ? | The Old Path

Being a disciple and knowing what it entails is very important. In Matthew 28:19–20, we see the great commission that Christ handed over to His disciples before He departed from the earth—which is to make disciples of all nations. ‎ ‎The first christians in the church of Antioch walked in a way that didn't deviate from the teachings and doctrines of Christ. The church we have today scattered across the face of the earth may not have been possible if they refused to live out the life that emulated Christ. We who are the present day christians are expected to walk in this path as well. ‎ ‎One of the attributes of a christian being teachable. A disciple is someone who has made himself available to be mentored. That's the reason why the disciples of Jesus referred to Him as "Rabbi", which in English is translated to master. Having a master means having someone higher than you in knowledge, especially in a particular field. ‎ ‎For a mentee (disciple) to successfully become like his master he has to come to total agreement with the master. This involves heeding to the master's instructions and not going against them. That's how we as christians are expected to obey the commandments of God. ‎
