We need 60 tons monthly of textile waste and this is not easy to find.
A few weeks back I was put into contact with one of the directors at the largest blanket manufacturers in South Africa. The chances of finding textile waste material was extremely high, but also thought they may see value in it and it could also be all accounted for already. The director copied me in on his emails and this was the response we received today. All this has done is peaked my interest wanting to know more as I see opportunity in this. A brokerage firm involved who would also be taking a cut for their services means the prices per kilogram are most likely low and the tonnage is high.
Waste in our way of thinking is it has little or no value and is a throw away commodity yet there are companies hustling for this everywhere. The demand is very high and I was extremely lucky to tie in my current suppliers and the reason I am guessing is I pay more than the export market rate. Plenty of this textile waste is exported and we know how expensive logistics is today so even when adding all those extra costs together the idea that this waste is still useable and profitable is an eye opener.
I wish I could get my hands on far more than I already do and I have not given up the battle with this company as maybe I can out pay their current contract by offering more. I am no dummy and also used this same opportunity to get a contact with regard to packaging materials which I have now received and will be visiting them later in the week. This will be two fold attack with the obvious being the packaging and the other asking certain questions over the textile waste deal they have in place.
The big difference between this company and the others so far is when I mentioned savings my contact said he was all in favor of this and there should be no problems. If there are problems then I must contact him immediately as then they have an internal corrupt problem which was music to my ears.
Blankets when folded are bulky items and with this company being a huge manufacturer the figures for pallet wrap will be a big number. There will be savings and profits for both sides and I am keen to see how much I can save them starting a new business relationship on a solid foundation. Who knows maybe swing the textile waste in my favor by what I am doing for them as a bundle package deal.
This one contract could be a business on it's won due to the sheer size and volumes involved and why I am keen to wrap my head around the numbers as soon as possible. I have been involved in accounts in the past that one could retire on with ease and I am getting those same vibes from what I have heard so far. Just because you have never heard of a company before does not mean that are not big and the online search information I have researched thus far puts them right up there.
