This evening I signed back up to the Supersport/DSTV streaming package which I skipped for the last 10 years. I have been using various streaming services on my smart television which is great because it was free, but also a hassle. When there is 4 or 5 live games on at once I like to flick between the channels and this is not so easy. This is the only time of the year when having a tv app for sport is not easy to move between channels as the channels do not tell you which game is live on which channel.

For roughly $30 monthly I can watch every English premiership game live which is more than what Sky Sports offers which is around 215 live matches per season. This package allows me access to 380 matches which is every match plus all the other sports besides football.
When I was travelling last year and this year I missed out on so much sport and now I can take this streaming service on my travels. I know many in the UK would love to have every game live and not a selected few games which are not necessarily showing the team you support. I still cannot believe SKY does not screen all the games live, but allows the rest of the world to watch them.
This package I will now keep even when we move overseas as a VPN would allow this to work without any problems. When you are a sports fan you need to be prepared and organised making sure you are well set up. The move to the Algarve in Portugal is definitely going to happen within the next couple of years so maybe I am a little early getting this sorted out. I am travelling next month and that is more of the thinking for now.
I think what changed my thinking was the purchase of two tickets for tomorrows rugby match in Johannesburg. Attending one live match is roughly half the years subscription so this is not expensive and puts this into context. Savings are great if they make sense and this does not when you miss out on sport when you are travelling. Maybe the ladies would not understand this, but normal guys will. We are fairly simple humans when it comes to things that are important in our lives.
The smart tv covers all the other entertainment requirements and have the technical know how in the family to bypass the normal requirements and why this is still very good. Crazy to think I have never had satellite television for 10 years and basically have got it back for the English Premiership season only for ease of use. I get Sky Sports on my tv apps for free, but Sky does not broadcast all the games like DSTV does. DSTV is also on the app ,but has not been set up on the lap top and this is what comes with me when I travel.
