Arena Fanatic enters the Ring: Fevered Excitement
Greetings everyone and welcome to another Splinterlands post. I'm fanatical about these new airdrop cards, almost even rabid. Foaming at the mouth perhaps? No that's just froth from my hefty brew. Truly this new card is a fun addition to the ranks of my collection. This card is only available from twitch drops and being given away on streamer's streaming on the platform. Including myself (more on that later). This card is pretty good in lower ranks, and actually gave me a few sneaky plays in modern. I will also be using this guy in survival aswell and my conflict carts. Wonderful lore-friendly addition to the game that representing the streamers and their viewers quite nicely. Welcome to Splinterlands everyone, we're in the bleachers watching the combat and heck even sometimes joining the fray throwing our flagons.
Battle Analysis: Modern Mania
In this modern battle you can see this card effectively grant victory in what was an otherwise "fully foundational" lineup. I don't have many modern cards and generally only play survival and foundations, but when streaming the other day I gave it a shot with my limited pool of cards. It did NOT go well overall but I was able to eek out some wins because of this card. It has superior stats to a foundation card, but doesn't really have have better stats than cards you would get with glints or from packs. It's higher level attributes are actually pretty good though, it definitely will be hard to get enough copies to get it there. So you all better start watching and entering those giveaways on Twitch, get engaged, get those cards.
In this fight in particular it is a foundation mirror (most matches in modern are foundation or glint cards by and large), so having ANY unexpected surprise to throw into the mix ends up being quite helpful. The 1 armor point is honestly massive when most foundation cards have inferior stats (and sometimes cost even more mana). It's a good low level or high level card, it's median levels are definitely mediocre compared to other cards out there. You either want to max this guy or keep him as singles.
Talking Tidbits: Streaming Drops going forward
Previously you would get this card by watching on twitch and receive the drops via twitch for roughly 15 hours while you hang out with your favorite Splinterlands streamers. From here after this card will be given away by the streamers themselves (including myself), but the glint rewards via twitch will continue down the pipes so definitely keep an eye out for them. I had a lot of fun streaming the game again, foundations is my favorite and reminds me of "Splinterlands back in the day" where skill was present at all ranks. It truly is very refreshing, and I genuinely mean that. Without this update I would not be streaming the game, even with these airdrops. As I wouldn't have anything to actually play that would appeal to the general public, Foundations fixes that and is genuinely fun to play. A competitive f2p mode that offers in game progression and challenging matchups. HOWEVER, it would be nice if ELO was a bit more balanced in this mode and you didn't slap lower ELO players when matchmaking liquidity is low. I do understand though, there isn't a massive human playerbase for Splinterlands as it is hard to get folks to spend 10 dollars on an indie web3 game to just play it. I look forward to continuing to occasionally stream splinterlands, give away some fanatics to some fanatics (see what I did there), and see where this new chapter of Splinterlands is headed, It's late but a step in the right direction, Splinterlands feels like a game again.
