My first vinyl records [ENG-PT/BR]

WELCOME

First of all, I would like to wish this new community every success. There are some good music communities on HIVE, but one dedicated to vinyl was sorely needed. Especially since vinyl records are making a comeback and attracting new enthusiasts. More and more people want to have music in physical format. Vintage will always be in fashion.

The United Kingdom is a great musical barometer. Key Production, one of the largest music manufacturing agencies, saw a 50% increase in orders for vinyl records in the first five months of 2025, compared to the same period in 2024.

The whole world is being hit by this wave, a significant growth in demand for vinyl records. There are several factors. I'm sure other enthusiastic users of physical records will reveal them here in the community.

For this first post, I'm sharing the first three records I ever bought. A single, an EP (maxi-single), and an LP. I was never a record-buying maniac; I chose to spend my money on other things. But I treasure the ones I have. [Like BTC from the analog era 😁]

MY FIRST VINYL RECORDS

I was lucky enough to be born in the late 1960s and enjoy my teenage years in the 1980s. I enjoyed cassette tapes, I enjoyed vinyl records spinning on turntables, and I adapted to the digital transformation. Then came MP3s, iPods, and now streaming. It has been a fantastic journey for my ears.

SINGLE

Hot Streak – Body Work In 1993, when I was 14, I bought my first single. The world was importing breakdancing from the US. This song has an electrifying energy and was the ideal hit to kick off garage parties, where all the guests brought their vinyl records.

Break Machine – Street Dance

Same year, same style. It was the height of breakdancing, folks. Who didn't want to dance like that back then? I confess I wasn't a fan of all that clumsy jumping around, almost breaking my collarbone. What fascinated me most was the normalization of sportswear as a casual dress code, which until then had only been worn by athletes.

Unfortunately, all I have left of this record is the cover. At one of the last parties, someone swapped the record without noticing. They took mine and left a Bananarama record 😓.

Suzanne Vega – Solitude Standing

A few years later, at the end of 1987, I bought my first LP. I never invested much money in records, but when I did, I had to really like them. This will always be an excellent record. If I had 1 HIVE for every time I listened to this record, it would be a whale 😄 🐳.

Booklets make all the difference in a musical work. The photographs, song lyrics, and credits that make up physical albums make them unique.

Cada vez há mais pessoas que querem ter a música no formato físico. O vintage estará sempre na moda. ﾠ O Reino Unido é um grande barómetro musical. A Key Prodution, uma das maiores agências de manufatura musical, teve um aumento de 50% nos pedidos de discos de vinil nos primeiros 5 meses de 2025 – em comparação pelo mesmo período de 2024. ﾠ Todo o globo está a ser atingido por essa onda, um crescimento significativo na procura de discos de vinil. Os fatores são vários. Tenho a certeza que outros usuários entusiastas de discos físicos vão revela-los aqui na comunidade. ﾠ Para esta primeira publicação, partilho os meus primeiros 3 discos que comprei. [Tipo, BTC da era analógica] ﾠ OS MEUS PRIMEIROS DISCOS DE VINIL Tive a sorte de ter nascido nos finais dos anos 60 e ter curtido a minha adolescência nos anos 80. Curti a fita magnética da K-7 (cassete), curti com o vinil a rodar no gira discos e adaptei-me à transformação digital. Depois o MP3, o iPOD, até ao atual streaming, A viagem tem sido fantástica para as minha orelhas. ﾠ SINGLE Hot Streak – Body Work ﾠ Em 1993, tinha 14 anos, comprei o meu primeiro disco single. O mundo estava a importar o Breakdance vindo dos EUA. Esta música tem uma energia eletrizante e era o HIT ideal para abrir as festas de garagem, onde todos os convidados levavam os seus discos de vinil. ﾠ EP – [MAXI-SINGLE] Break Machine – Street Dance ﾠ No mesmo ano e da mesma linha. Era o apogeu do Breakdance, amigos. Quem não queria dançar assim na altura? Confesso que não era adepto de tanta pioreta desengonçada, quase a partir a clavícula. O que mais me fascinou foi a normalização de roupas desportivas como dress code casual, até aí usada apenas por desportistas. Infelizmente deste disco só me resta a capa. Numa das últimas festas alguém trocou o disco, sem reparar. Levou o meu e deixou um disco das Bananarama ﾠ LP Suzanne Vega – Solitude Standing ﾠ Uns anos mais tarde, no final de 1987, comprei o meu primeiro LP. Nunca investi muito dinheiro em discos, mas onde investia tinha de me agradar muito. Este será sempre um disco excelente. Se tivesse 1 HIVE pela quantidade de vezes que ouvi este disco, seria uma baleia.
