Welcome, Hivers, to the beautiful Bantayan Island in the Philippines! Today, we’re going on an exciting adventure to The Ruins, a famous spot on the island where you can try amazing cliff jumping.

Bantayan Island is known for its beautiful beaches, but there’s another interesting place to visit called The Ruins Bantayan. When people hear “ruins” in the Philippines, they sometimes think of an old buildings from the Spanish colonial period. But, The Ruins on Bantayan Island are different — they are what’s left of a German man’s house that was destroyed by Typhoon Yolanda that happened in 2013. However, even though it is just an old building with some writings or paintings on the walls, The Ruins is also a great spot for cliff jumping, especially during high tide. Many locals go there for fun and excitement as they jump off the cliffs into the water. The Ruins Bantayan is easy to find on Google Maps. It’s less than a 10-minute drive or about a 30-minute walk from the town center.

The best time to visit The Ruins Bantayan is during high tide so you can fully enjoy this beautiful spot on Bantayan Island. We were lucky when we visited because it was high tide, so we were able to jump and swim happily. There is no entrance fee when going there. You are free to take pictures, enjoy the view, and swim as much as you like. There are also restaurants nearby, so you can enjoy a good meal at lunchtime after exploring The Ruins. If you just want a quick snack, no worries—there are small vendors around selling different kinds of tasty food. Don’t forget to try their refreshing buko juice (coconut juice) — it’s a must! 🥥
