I just finished the second arc, and it took me about two weeks of on-and-off watching to get through the first two arcs without skipping a single episode. It felt amazing to revisit it after so many years. Watching it again gave me a fresh perspective on the story, and I feel like I understood it much better this time.
As far as I know, there are currently three main arcs: the Hunter Exam, Greed Island, and the Chimera Ant.
All of them are definitely worth watching, but the first arc is still my favorite because it’s when Gon, the main character, officially becomes a Pro Hunter along with his friends Kurapika and Leorio... later joined by Killua, after failing his first attempt at the exam.
Why did I rewatch it? Well, I heard a rumor that a fourth arc might be released, focusing on the revival of the Phantom Troupe’s boss, Chrollo Lucilfer. This has been long overdue, as many fans have been waiting for it. There’s been speculation for years, and I really hope the creator will finally release it to close the story properly.
Back in the first arc, Chrollo was nullified by Kurapika and lost the ability to use his Nen. That always felt like an unfinished thread. I’d love to see how the Phantom Troupe managed without their leader and whether they were able to undo the nullification of his power.
It would also be exciting to see whether Kurapika finally finds the peace he’s been seeking for his fallen comrades, who were killed by the Troupe. Will he ultimately take revenge, or will he let go of the past and move on?
Regardless, I hope you’ll enjoy this anime as much as I did. The playlist I’m sharing contains every episode from the three arcs.
