I just came back from my walk, and it feels great that I was able to go for a long one today. I visited the food bazaar at Aljunied, and I had a good time enjoying some street food and even seeing the mascot of Mixue LOL \:D
I guess that’s the main reason I specifically visited this bazaar, because there are many of them all over the city right now. But this one is quite unique because of Mixue. They set up a huge inflatable balloon at the center of the vacant lot next to the bazaar, and it can even be seen from the Green Line MRT. I’ve been spotting the mascot during the weekdays, but I never stopped since I was always in a rush. Today’s Friday, though, so I figured I might as well experience it while it’s still there. I’m not sure how long they’ll keep it up, so I made sure to take some photos before it’s gone.
The surprising part is that there were also mini versions of the Mixue mascot with actual people inside, so they could move and wave at everyone. Unlike the big one, these small ones actually have humans inside them hahaha!
Although I’m not too sure, I think this is the first time I’ve seen a small food bazaar with such upscale marketing like this one. It seems that Mixue is doing some aggressive marketing lately, and they’re probably planning to launch more store openings in the coming months with the way things are progressing. I guess it’s about time they leveled up their branding since many of their stores are actually doing well. In fact, I’ve seen one of their stores in the Bugis area, and it’s always packed with customers no matter what time it is. I never thought they were this popular, and yet they only have a few stores citywide.
Aside from the Mixue store, there were other stalls that also participated in this bazaar, so I’d like to share some photos from my quick exploration of the place:
What I like about the setup of this bazaar is that it’s right beside the Aljunied MRT station, which has a nice classic design. In my opinion, this design offers a beautiful view, especially during the late afternoon.
Overall, my quick visit to the Aljunied food bazaar turned into a fun little adventure filled with good food, colorful sights, and a surprising encounter with Mixue’s adorable mascots. It’s always nice to stumble upon something unique in the middle of an ordinary day, especially when it adds a bit of cheer to the week. I’m glad I decided to stop by, and I’ll definitely keep an eye out for more pop-up events like this in the city.
