π One Week in Splinterlands β My Progress & Earnings Journey
created using Sora
Itβs been a week since I started playing Splinterlands, so I thought Iβd share my progress... especially on the financial side of playing the game π°. Iβll also dive into what makes this game so enjoyable for me, along with some thoughts on its potential earnings when done right.
π― Why I Joined the Hive Gaming Scene
Iβd already planned to play at least one game on Hive this year because I believe it has a bright future in the blockchain space π. Hive has the technology to support it and a community thatβs truly passionate about what they do on-chain.
Originally, I wanted to start with Holozing. But since itβs still in development, I decided to try Splinterlands while waiting for its launch. This way, I could experience first-hand what blockchain gaming on Hive feels like.
π΅ My Initial Investment
Last week, I made my first investment into Splinterlands by purchasing DEC and SPS tokens:
Token | Units Bought | Buy Price (USD) | Initial Invest (USD) | Investment Start Date |
---|---|---|---|---|
DEC | 24,183 | 0.00086 | \$20.80 | 2025-08-02 |
SPS | 2,000 | 0.00721 | \$14.42 | 2025-08-02 |
(Prices are approximations based on memory β close enough for tracking purposes.)
βοΈ Early Lessons Learned
During my first week, I made a few rookie mistakes... like buying cards I thought I needed, when in reality I could have earned them through Campaigns and Frontier Battles.
I jumped into Modern Battles too quickly, spending DEC to level up cards I felt would become part of my core deck. If I could do it over, Iβd start with Campaigns first, then move to Frontier to earn some cards before making big purchases.
But since Iβd already made those moves, I decided to keep going and manage my resources carefully.
π My DEC Token Activity
Initial DEC Bought | DEC Spent | Current DEC Holdings | DEC Gained (Card Sales) |
---|---|---|---|
24,183 | 15,549.061 | 8,633.939 | 1,066.979 |
Even with my spending, selling cards I didnβt need (mostly rewards from Frontier Battles) helped me earn back some of the DEC I used π°.
π My Portfolio After 1 Week
Starting investment: \$35
Asset | Units | Price (USD) | Value (USD) | Initial Investment (USD) | Card Sales (DEC, last 7d) | Card Sales Value (USD, last 7d) | Gains (USD) |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
SPS (incl. staked) | 2,004.974 | 0.007313 | 14.66 | 14.42 | β | β | 0.24 |
DEC | 8,633.939 | 0.000874 | 7.54 | 20.80 | 1,066.979 | 0.93 | -13.26 |
GLINTH | 6,730.000 | β | β | 0.00 | β | β | β |
Cards Owned | β | β | 22.23 | 0.00 | β | β | 22.23 |
TOTAL | 17,368.913 | β | 44.43 | 35.22 | 1,066.979 | 0.93 | 9.22 |
π‘ If we exclude the card values, Iβd actually be net negative by β\$13.26 due to my in-game spending... but thatβs part of the learning process!
π Staking & Momentum
One thing Iβm proud of... my SPS stake is growing steadily through both staking rewards and battle rewards, which Iβm compounding over time. Interestingly, my battle rewards are increasing my SPS stake faster than my staking rewards... so I plan to keep this momentum going.
π Year-End Projection
If I maintain my current pace, hereβs my projected portfolio by December 31:
Component | Units (proj) | Price (USD) | Value (USD) |
---|---|---|---|
DEC | 30,583.22 | \$0.000874 | \$26.71 |
SPS (incl. staked) | 2,162.84 | \$0.007313 | \$15.81 |
GLINTH earnings (Aug 10βDec 31) | 22,628.57 | \$0.000029 | \$0.67 |
Total projected value | β | β | \$43.19 |
Overall, my first week in Splinterlands has been both a learning experience and a rewarding adventure π. The mix of strategy, community, and steady portfolio growth keeps me excited to log in every day. I canβt wait to see how my progress unfolds in the weeks and months ahead... this is just the beginning.
