It's an exciting weekend here in the city—at least for the Otakus!

It's that time of the year when Gardens by the Bay hosts the Sakura Anime Garden! It’s an event that I believe every generation can relate to. From the oldies to the young ones, we’ve all had that phase in life when we watched anime and became obsessed with a particular show or character.

Are you an '80s, '90s, or present-day anime enthusiast? This is the perfect opportunity to showcase your love for anime by dressing up as your favorite character! But if you're just a fan like me, it's also a great time to visit the Gardens and see which anime characters are trending right now.

So today, I headed to the Gardens to check out the event and see what activities are lined up for this year's Anime Garden!

Aside from the anime booths and food trucks, the main highlight of the event is the live concert held at the Supertree Grove area. The event started at 2:00 PM and will run until 10:00 PM today. Arriving at 5:00 PM means the event is only halfway through, with plenty of performances still to come!

There is a large open space next to the Supertree Grove that has become a designated area for cosplayers to hold their photography sessions. I'm not entirely sure if it's a paid gig for them, but I noticed that they are accompanied by a photographer who takes their photos. I assume that anyone who wants to take a picture with them may need to pay or purchase the photo.

It’s an amazing event, and as much as I’d love to stay until closing time, the rain is about to pour over the city. I’d rather not get stuck in the Gardens at night, so I decided to cut my visit short and head home for dinner!

Overall, the Sakura Anime Garden was a fantastic experience, bringing together anime fans of all ages to celebrate their favorite characters and shows. From vibrant cosplayers to exciting performances, the event truly captured the spirit of anime culture. While I had to leave earlier than planned, I’m already looking forward to next year’s event and all the surprises it will bring!
