Greetings Fabulous Felines and Hoomans of Hivelandia and surrounding communities!
Although it often seems like only a short while ago, it has actually been a year since the Hoomans brought Shangri and Nala home from the animal shelter so they could make their "forever home" with us.
First day in their new home!
They were a pair of rather anxious and skittish young cats — large kittens, really — when the arrived here, being the last two of a litter of nine kittens to be adopted out.
They had spent almost six weeks in the noisy entrance of the Animal Shelter front room, and mostly just wanted to hide, while having very little trust with Hoomans.

During their first few weeks in their new home, they just wanted to hide under something, but the Hoomans put up boards across most of the "under spaces" and instead offered many covered sleeping places and beds where they could feel safe and warm.
Eventually, they started to relax a little and explore their new surroundings, even if it was very cautiously, at first.
Always close together: This was during the first week.
Somehow, they seemed to take to the Dad-Hooman fastest... he has always been known as "The Cat Whisperer" around here!
Of course, they are quite settled in now... even though the doorbell going off, or a sudden loud noise still sends them running to the opposite end of the house.
Shangri, earlier today, now a fully adult cat. He's a BIG guy!
Nala is rather more curious and more willing to to check out what's going on when something unexpected happens, and she's also the most likely to curl up on the bed when the Hoomans are there.
The Hoomans like to joke that Nala is my "girlfriend!" Not sure how I feel about that, but I don't mind too much... she does seem very interested in me.

Shangri has earned the nickname "The Mighty Floof" because not only has he become a very large cat, but he's very soft and a medium-hair cat, where Nala is a typical short-hair cat.
They are quite happy to hang out and get petted and enjoy belly rub, but neither of them are very happy about being picked up... we expect there's some negative feelings attached to that, somewhere in their past.
Still best friends, but they take up a little more room in the bed!
Thankfully, everyone gets along really well, and it has been a really good thing for Shadow (Curator Cat) to have a couple of energetic young cats in the house to paly with and run around with!
Because the two did have a difficult start to life, we expect they will continue to grow more and more comfortable with us, as they age.
