Let us ask God to guard our minds, our words, and our emotions, especially in adversity.
So Festus arrived in the province and went up from Caesarea to Jerusalem three days later. 2 The chief priests and the most influential of the Jews came before him against Paul and begged him, 3 asking against him, as a favor, that he would have him brought to Jerusalem; they were laying a trap to kill him on the way. 4 But Festus replied that Paul was being kept in custody at Caesarea, whither he himself would soon depart. 5 Those of you who are able, he said, come down with me, and if there is any crime in this man, accuse him. 6 After staying with them no more than eight or ten days, he came to Caesarea, and the next day he sat on the judgment seat and ordered Paul to be brought. 7 When he arrived, the Jews who had come from Jerusalem surrounded him, bringing against him many serious accusations which they could not prove. 8 Paul pleaded in his defense, "I have not sinned against the Jewish law, nor against the temple, nor against Caesar." 9 But Festus, desiring to curry favor with the Jews, answered Paul, "Do you want to go up to Jerusalem, and there be judged before me about these things?" 10 Paul said, "I stand at Caesar's judgment seat, where I ought to be judged. I have done no wrong to the Jews, as you well know. 11 For if I have done any wrong or anything worthy of death, I do not refuse to die. But if there is nothing to the things of which these people accuse me, no one can hand me over to them. I appeal to Caesar." 12 Then Festus, after speaking with the council, answered, "You have appealed to Caesar; to Caesar you shall go." 13 After some days had passed, King Agrippa and Bernice came to Caesarea to greet Festus. 14 After they had been there many days, Festus laid Paul's case before the king, saying, "A certain man has been left bound by Felix. 15 When I came to Jerusalem, the chief priests and the elders of the Jews came to me, demanding condemnation against him. 16 To these I replied that it is not the custom of the Romans to hand anyone over to death before the accused has had his accusers face to face and has been able to defend himself against the charge."

Paul in this picture is a great example of patience, and this is what he showed us when he was brought to trial before Festus. Paul did not allow the false accusations of all the adversaries who arose to affect his attitude and his calmness. On the contrary, the apostle Paul faced the entire legal process with absolute patience while remaining faithful and not losing his gaze on the Lord.
This is a clear and great example for us that we should likewise seek God at all times, especially in times of difficulty, and even more so if we are impulsive. We must ask God to take control and submit our will to God in these three main aspects:
Let Him take control of our thoughts. This consists of diverting our attention from the difficulty and focusing it primarily on the Lord. To do this, we can use His word as a guide to reorient us at all times, and the Holy Spirit of God helps us maintain that correct perspective.
We can also give God control of our emotions, because when the Holy Spirit guides our feelings and reactions driven by thoughts, we become more peaceful and can respond in a much more godly manner.
A hot-tempered man stirs up strife, But he who is slow to anger pacifies conflict.
Proverbs 15:18
Last but not least, we must give God control of our words. This means that our tongue is a great instrument and an important element to bear witness to God's love and grace in difficult times.
Let us remember that we pray to God and His Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness and intercedes for us with unspeakable groans before God. God provides everything we need, just as He did with Paul. Even when faced with injustice, the apostle Paul remained steadfast and unfazed. Now, let's imagine what God can do with us as we become more patient. Are you willing?
Pidamos a Dios que guarde bajo su cuidado nuestra mente, nuestras palabras y nuestras emociones, sobre todo en las adversidades.
Llegado, pues, Festo a la provincia, subió de Cesarea a Jerusalén tres días después. 2 Y los principales sacerdotes y los más influyentes de los judíos se presentaron ante él contra Pablo, y le rogaron, 3 pidiendo contra él, como gracia, que le hiciese traer a Jerusalén; preparando ellos una celada para matarle en el camino. 4 Pero Festo respondió que Pablo estaba custodiado en Cesarea, adonde él mismo partiría en breve. 5 Los que de vosotros puedan, dijo, desciendan conmigo, y si hay algún crimen en este hombre, acúsenle. 6 Y deteniéndose entre ellos no más de ocho o diez días, venido a Cesarea, al siguiente día se sentó en el tribunal, y mandó que fuese traído Pablo. 7 Cuando este llegó, lo rodearon los judíos que habían venido de Jerusalén, presentando contra él muchas y graves acusaciones, las cuales no podían probar; 8 alegando Pablo en su defensa: Ni contra la ley de los judíos, ni contra el templo, ni contra César he pecado en nada. 9 Pero Festo, queriendo congraciarse con los judíos, respondiendo a Pablo dijo: ¿Quieres subir a Jerusalén, y allá ser juzgado de estas cosas delante de mí? 10 Pablo dijo: Ante el tribunal de César estoy, donde debo ser juzgado. A los judíos no les he hecho ningún agravio, como tú sabes muy bien. 11 Porque si algún agravio, o cosa alguna digna de muerte he hecho, no rehúso morir; pero si nada hay de las cosas de que estos me acusan, nadie puede entregarme a ellos. A César apelo. 12 Entonces Festo, habiendo hablado con el consejo, respondió: A César has apelado; a César irás. 13 Pasados algunos días, el rey Agripa y Berenice vinieron a Cesarea para saludar a Festo. 14 Y como estuvieron allí muchos días, Festo expuso al rey la causa de Pablo, diciendo: Un hombre ha sido dejado preso por Félix, 15 respecto al cual, cuando fui a Jerusalén, se me presentaron los principales sacerdotes y los ancianos de los judíos, pidiendo condenación contra él. 16 A estos respondí que no es costumbre de los romanos entregar alguno a la muerte antes que el acusado tenga delante a sus acusadores, y pueda defenderse de la acusación.
Hechos 25:1-16
Pablo en este cuadro es un gran ejemplo de paciencia, y esto es lo que nos mostró cuando fue llevado a juicio delante de Festo. Pablo no permitió que esas acusaciones falsas de todos los adversarios que se levantaba encontrar afecto su actitud y su tranquilidad, al contrario, el apóstol Pablo enfrentó con absoluta paciencia todo el proceso legal mientras permanecía fiel y no desviaba su mirada del señor.
Éste es un claro y un gran ejemplo para nosotros que de la misma forma deberíamos buscar a Dios en todo momento, sobre todo en los momentos de dificultad y mucho más aún si somos impulsivos, debemos pedirle a Dios que tome control y someter nuestra voluntad a Dios en estos tres aspectos principales:
Que tome control de nuestros pensamientos, esto consiste en apartar nuestra atención de la dificultad enfocarlas principalmente en el señor, para eso podemos utilizar su palabra como guía que nos reorientara en todo momento y el espíritu Santo de Dios nos ayuda a tener esa perspectiva correcta.
También podemos ceder a Dios el control de nuestras emociones ya que cuando el espíritu Santo guía nuestros sentimientos y nuestras reacciones impulsado por pensamientos, nos volvemos más apacible y de esa manera podemos responder de una manera mucho más piadosa.
El hombre iracundo promueve contiendas; Mas el que tarda en airarse apacigua la rencilla.
Proverbios 15:18
Por último y no menos importante debemos ceder a Dios el control de nuestras palabras esto quiere decir que nuestra lengua es un gran instrumento y un elemento importante para dar testimonio del amor y la gracia de Dios en momentos complejos.
Recordemos que oramos a Dios y su espíritu Santo nos ayuda en nuestra debilidad e intercede por nosotros con gemidos indecibles delante de Dios, Dios provee todo lo que necesitamos así como lo hizo con Pablo, aún cuando se enfrentó a injusticias el apóstol Pablo permaneció firme y no se alteró, ahora imaginemos lo que Dios puede hacer con nosotros a medida que nos volvemos más pacientes, ¿estás dispuesto?.
