Sometimes, due to the circumstances we face in our lives, we wonder: is God truly working in my life?
Shout for joy to God, all the earth! 2 Sing the glory of his name; Make his praise resound. 3 Say to God, “How awesome are your deeds! By the power of your might, your enemies submit to you.” 4 All the earth will worship you, And sing to you; They will sing praises to your name. Selah 5 Come and see the works of God, Who is awesome in his deeds toward the children of men. 6 He turned the sea into dry land; They crossed the river on foot; There we rejoiced in him. 7 He reigns with his power forever; His eyes watch over the nations; The rebellious will not be exalted. Selah 8 Praise our God, all you peoples, And make the voice of his praise heard. 9 He has preserved our lives, And did not let our feet slip. 10 For you tested us, O God; You refined us like silver. 11 You put us in the net; You laid a heavy burden on our backs. 12 You let men ride over our heads; We went through fire and water, But you brought us out to a place of abundance. 13 I will enter your house with burnt offerings; I will pay my vows to you, 14 Which my lips have uttered And my mouth has spoken, when I was in distress. 15 I will offer you burnt offerings of fat animals, With incense of rams; I will offer you bulls and goats as sacrifices. Selah 16 Come, listen, all you who fear God, And I will tell what he has done for my soul. 17 I cried out to him with my mouth, And he was praised with my tongue. 18 If I had cherished iniquity in my heart, The Lord would not have listened. 19 But God has surely heard me; He has attended to the voice of my prayer. 20 Blessed be God, Who has not turned away my prayer, nor his mercy from me.
Psalm 66
We observe the hand of God moving from the beginning of creation and throughout all of history. At some times, God's work is very evident and often dramatic, as in the example of when He parted the Red Sea, or other actions. At other times, God's hand moves subtly, and we might even overlook it. Perhaps we don't perceive when God is working, but that doesn't stop Him from working. Nothing prevents God from acting. There are many blessings reserved for His children, for those who know God, for those who choose to trust in Him.
Sometimes we have ideas about how God acts or should act. We use our earthly knowledge to try to categorize God and believe that is the only way, but this can simply cloud our perception of God's powerful work. Imagine if we only received everything we asked for. In that situation, we might say we see God's hand at work, but if we ask and don't receive, we believe God is not working in our favor. To have a much clearer perspective on this situation, let's read all of Psalm 66. David shows us that God acts in many ways, through suffering, through deliverance from a situation, but we must understand that God acts according to His word. That is why we must study and read His word to recognize His actions in our lives.
When we focus our gaze on the Lord, our entire perspective changes, it is renewed. Reading His word and understanding it increases our faith and helps us discern and make better decisions. All of this allows us to experience the joy of His presence, of His work, whether it is great and evident or small. God encourages us to praise Him and be grateful even in the most difficult times.
I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise will continually be on my lips.
Psalm 34:1
A veces debido a las circunstancias que atravesamos en nuestras vidas nos preguntamos ¿realmente Dios está obrando en mi vida?.
Aclamad a Dios con alegría, toda la tierra. 2 Cantad la gloria de su nombre; Poned gloria en su alabanza. 3 Decid a Dios: ¡Cuán asombrosas son tus obras! Por la grandeza de tu poder se someterán a ti tus enemigos. 4 Toda la tierra te adorará, Y cantará a ti; Cantarán a tu nombre. Selah 5 Venid, y ved las obras de Dios, Temible en hechos sobre los hijos de los hombres. 6 Volvió el mar en seco; Por el río pasaron a pie; Allí en él nos alegramos. 7 Él señorea con su poder para siempre; Sus ojos atalayan sobre las naciones; Los rebeldes no serán enaltecidos. Selah 8 Bendecid, pueblos, a nuestro Dios, Y haced oír la voz de su alabanza. 9 Él es quien preservó la vida a nuestra alma, Y no permitió que nuestros pies resbalasen. 10 Porque tú nos probaste, oh Dios; Nos ensayaste como se afina la plata. 11 Nos metiste en la red; Pusiste sobre nuestros lomos pesada carga. 12 Hiciste cabalgar hombres sobre nuestra cabeza; Pasamos por el fuego y por el agua, Y nos sacaste a abundancia. 13 Entraré en tu casa con holocaustos; Te pagaré mis votos, 14 Que pronunciaron mis labios Y habló mi boca, cuando estaba angustiado. 15 Holocaustos de animales engordados te ofreceré, Con sahumerio de carneros; Te ofreceré en sacrificio bueyes y machos cabríos. Selah 16 Venid, oíd todos los que teméis a Dios, Y contaré lo que ha hecho a mi alma. 17 A él clamé con mi boca, Y fue exaltado con mi lengua. 18 Si en mi corazón hubiese yo mirado a la iniquidad, El Señor no me habría escuchado. 19 Mas ciertamente me escuchó Dios; Atendió a la voz de mi súplica. 20 Bendito sea Dios, Que no echó de sí mi oración, ni de mí su misericordia.
Salmos 66
Observamos la mano de Dios que se mueve desde el principio de la creación y a lo largo de toda la historia, en algunos momento la obra de Dios es muy evidente y muchas veces dramática, como el ejemplo de cuando abrió el mar rojo como otras acciones. En algunas otras ocasiones también la mano de Dios se mueve de forma sutil y quizás hasta lo pasamos por alto. Quizás por parte nuestra no percibimos cuando Dios está haciendo su obra, pero esto no impide que él siga haciendo, nada impide que Dios deje de obrar. Hay muchas bendiciones reservadas para sus hijos, para quienes le conocen a Dios, para quienes deciden confiar en el.
En ocasiones nosotros tenemos ideas de cómo actúa o debe obrar Dios, utilizamos nuestro conocimiento terrenal para encasillar a Dios y creemos que esa es la manera, pero esto simplemente puede nublar nuestra percepción de la obra poderosa de Dios. Imagina si solamente recibimos todo aquello que pedimos, en esta situación podemos decir que vemos la mano de Dios moverse, pero si pedimos y no recibimos creemos que Dios no está obrando nuestro favor. Para tener un panorama mucho más claro acerca de esta situación pues vamos a leer todo el salmo 66, David nos muestra que Dios actúa de muchas maneras, mediante el sufrimiento, mediante la liberación de alguna situación, pero debemos tener claro que Dios obra conforme a su palabra, es por ello que debemos estudiar y leer su palabra para así reconocer las acciones que realiza en nuestras vidas.
Cuándo ponemos la mirada en el señor, todo nuestro panorama cambia, se renueva, a leer su palabra y comprender nuestra fe aumenta y nos ayuda a discernir y tomar mejores decisiones. Todo esto nos permite experimentar el gozo de su presencia, de su obra aunque ésta sea grande y evidente o pequeña. Dios nos impulsa a que le Alabemos y seamos agradecidos aún cuando los momentos más difíciles.
Bendeciré a Jehová en todo tiempo; Su alabanza estará de continuo en mi boca.
