Realizing that there were ten chapters left, these last two posts of Inheritance are going to cover five chapters a piece. So yeah, this is my second to last post of the core 'Inheritance Cycle' with Eragon as the main character.
Knowing there's still 'The Fork, the Witch, and The Worm' and 'Murtagh' to read is definitely comforting but knowing this series of posts is nearly kinda done, is blowing my mind in a big big way. It's pretty sad.
These chapters after Galbatorix is defeated, are just totally outstanding. Christopher Paolini is absolutely going off in these chapters LOL.
I say 'going off' to be silly because these chapters are like a whole new book has started. Paolini's talents are totally on display here.
These are the most introspective, interesting, magical, peaceful chapters of the whole series. Of all the series and books I've read the full circle moments and just in depth closure is so so good. These chapters are intentional, and bittersweet and just so amazing.
Most series I read kind of end a bit abruptly. Well, at least compared to 'Inheritance' they do. 'Inheritance' has like a legit chunk of book dedicated to ending this beautiful series and I feel I almost don't feel worthy/deserving to read such a great story. Everything feels whimsical, floaty, and emotional.
Murtagh is so much more interesting than I remembered in the first read. I wonder why I didn't see him as interesting the first time. Murtagh is older than Eragon, maybe that's why. His vague, mysterious personality is wicked cool. I almost start to wonder if like Paolini intentionally made him this way thinking he'd have his own story down the line. I am giddy thinking about reading his story. I'm glad Eragon and him ended mostly peacefully. Ugh, wow.
I believe Roran should have been King! But Nasuada is pretty good obviously LOL. Roran getting to be Earl of Palancar Valley is AMAZING though! Roran is amazing!!
Seeing Brom again in his diamond tomb was a nice touch. Ugh. What an interesting cat Brom was.
Eragon journeying through life and Alagaësia, feeling lost is so sad and relatable. It's nice that he and Nasuada are stabilizing the Empire slowly but surely of course.
But that's what I'm loving about these final chapters. The ending to this series is totally marvelous. It just feels like, I don't know what. It really feels kind of perfectly magical and bittersweet. Now that this is infused with personal nostalgia it's just kind of a next level experience. I'm so glad I read this when I was younger.
I know one thing, I DID NOT hype this up. This book is simply outstanding.
I'll leave some energy for the final part here though. I'm scared to actually finish this. 😭😂😅🥲🥺
But, on I go!
