MANY Spoilers

Chapters Read:

  • Rudely into the Light
  • A Cradle Song
  • No Rest for the Weary
  • Dancing with Swords

The chapters 'Rudely into the Light' and particularly 'A Cradle Song' were two of the most interesting and wholesome chapters of 'The Inheritance Cycle' I've ever read. The way Eragon heals his family friend's baby was so amazing. As a father now, and my son returning to school, that chapter was incredibly meaningful and precious.

The next two chapters were a bit meh. Very cringe. Nasuada is becoming more and more unlikeable lately. She shows zero patience and zero room to budge on anything ever. I guess since her father was respected, she is therefore respected. But man, she really seems arrogant to me.

'Dancing with Swords' was also a bit cringe. Eragon is still young I can't forget I guess. But the way he's getting pushed around by the Elves in training was just a bit depressing. I guess it does make a bit of sense. He's seen a lot of success recently that it maybe is unsurprising that he may regress due to some complacency.

But it's also just mildly annoying because I don't know, has Eragon seen much success at all in any major battle? He has defeated a Shade I suppose, two kinda. But he kinda didn't fight too well against Murtagh ever, and now he continues to show regression. Nasuada orders him around, Arya is whooping him. I mean meh it's just a bit strange. Roran is getting bossed around like he's unimportant as well! Roran is advancing in rank and I guess is respected but it all feels uneven and strange to me.

It's not TOO big of a deal but, mildly annoying and odd.

But this has still been very enjoyable and a time will come I'm sure when Eragon overcomes these setbacks.
