Hace unas semanas subí un post de mi visita relámpago a Barcelona- España. Hoy, en una visita más calmada les comparto otro itinerario, una caminata de dieciséis km conociendo detalles históricos y culturales de esta vibrante ciudad. También en este post quiero darles referencias de algunos costos por si tienen pensado acercarse a esta ciudad.
Salimos de Torredembarra a las 8 a.m, en tren hacia Barcelona, es un recorrido de aproximadamente una hora y el valor del pasaje ( la ida y otro tanto la vuelta) 7:50 € por persona.

A few weeks ago, I posted about my whirlwind visit to Barcelona, Spain. Today, after a more leisurely visit, I'm sharing another itinerary with you: a 16-kilometer walk to discover the historical and cultural details of this vibrant city. In this post, I also want to give you some cost estimates in case you're thinking of visiting this city.
We left Torredembarra at 8 a.m. by train to Barcelona. It's about an hour's journey and the ticket price (both ways) is €7.50 per person.
Llegamos a la estación de Sant, tiene todas las características de un aeropuerto y es la más importante de la ciudad, pues de ella sale el tren de alta velocidad (AVE), y los normales.
We arrive at Sant station, which has all the characteristics of an airport and is the most important in the city, as it is the departure point for high-speed trains (AVE) and regular trains.
Al salir de la estación, justo al frente te encuentras con un bello parque , el Parque Industrial y su icono es la obra arquitectónica de metal y concreto de un dragón, es un tobogán, me imagino que en los días frescos será un deleite para los niños, recorrimos una pequeña parte buscando captar algo de su belleza.
When you leave the station, right in front of you is a beautiful park, the Industrial Park, whose icon is an architectural work of metal and concrete in the shape of a dragon. It is a slide, and I imagine that on cool days it will be a delight for children. We walked around a small part of it, trying to capture some of its beauty.
Todavía era temprano, las calles tenían poco movimiento y la temperatura estaba bastante fresca, nos dirigimos a una cafetería para desayunar y esperar a una amiga, venezolana, de mi hija, que nos acompañaría en el paseo.
Un desayuno, en un lugar como este, para dos personas puede salir en 14€, pero fácilmente puedes conseguir un desayuno,unos bocatas de jamón y queso con un café grande en 4€ por persona, muy buenos.
It was still early, the streets were quiet, and the temperature was quite cool. We headed to a café for breakfast and to wait for my daughter's Venezuelan friend, who would be joining us on our outing.
Breakfast for two in a place like this can cost €14, but you can easily get breakfast, some ham and cheese sandwiches, and a large coffee for €4 per person, which is very good.
Luego de desayunar y ya con la amiga salimos a buscar la parada del autobús para dirigirnos a la zona San Martí, un distrito de Barcelona, el pasaje interurbano es de 2,30 € .
En San Martí se encuentra la biblioteca pública, Gabriel García Márquez, un lugar que quería conocer desde que la inauguraron en el año 2022, cuando viene en el 2023, no tuve oportunidad de hacerlo. Como latinoamérica, me daba ilusión ir a visitarla y ese hoy, era el momento.
After breakfast and with our friend now with us, we went to find the bus stop to go to the San Martí area, a district of Barcelona. The intercity fare is €2.30.
In San Martí is the Gabriel García Márquez public library, a place I had wanted to visit since it opened in 2022, but when I came in 2023, I didn't have the opportunity to do so. As a Latin American, I was excited to visit it, and today was the day.
La biblioteca es bellísima y su estructura rompe con muchos conceptos de las bibliotecas que conozco en mi país. Para comenzar sus paredes son de vidrio, sus espacios amplios, divididos pensando en los usuarios y lo que desean hacer, por ejemplo, si vas a estudiar el cuarto piso es el mejor, dotado de mesas, sillas, puntos de conexión, si vas a leer en familia encuentras lugares especiales dotados de alfombras y cojines. Si tu intención es ir a leer cómodamente en un lugar tranquilo y agradable tienes puff, mecedoras e incluso una hamaca.
The library is beautiful, and its structure breaks with many concepts of libraries I know in my country. To begin with, its walls are made of glass, its spaces are large, divided with users and what they want to do in mind. For example, if you are going to study, the fourth floor is the best, equipped with tables, chairs, and connection points. If you are going to read with your family, you will find special places equipped with rugs and cushions. If you want to read comfortably in a quiet and pleasant place, there are beanbag chairs, rocking chairs, and even a hammock.
Había leído que la biblioteca tiene la mayor colección de literatura latinoamericana de Cataluña, información que me imagino sea cierta, sin embargo, sentí un poco de decepción, pues ciertamente hay un módulo dedicado a este rubro con autores como el propio Garcia Márquez, Vargas Llosa, Isabel Allende, Martin Caparrós, Neruda, Borges y otros tantos, incluso uno de Arturo Uslar Pietri, aún así el sitio no se siente especial, es un módulo al final del tercer piso y listo.
I had read that the library has the largest collection of Latin American literature in Catalonia, which I imagine to be true, However, I felt a little disappointed, because although there is certainly a section dedicated to this genre with authors such as García Márquez himself, Vargas Llosa, Isabel Allende, Martín Caparrós, Neruda, Borges, and many others, including one by Arturo Uslar Pietri, the place doesn't feel special. It's just a section at the end of the third floor, and that's it.
Este hecho no impidió el disfrute del momento y las tres estábamos extasiadas con el lugar, así que decidimos escoger cada una un libro según su gusto y leer, por lo menos, 45 minutos en este privilegiado lugar. Así que tomé un libro de relatos cortos y disfruté con gusto el texto en estas cómodas sillas colgantes.
This did not prevent us from enjoying the moment, and the three of us were ecstatic about the place, so we decided to each choose a book according to our taste and read for at least 45 minutes in this privileged place. So I picked up a book of short stories and enjoyed the text in these comfortable hanging chairs.
De allí salimos de vuelta al centro de Barcelona, pasear por los alrededores de la emblemática obra de Gaudí, La Iglesia Sagrada Familia, es una obra no concluida por lo que siempre está en construcción o reparación, es esta oportunidad no fue la excepción.
From there, we left to return to the center of Barcelona and stroll around Gaudí's iconic work, the Sagrada Familia Church. It is an unfinished work, so it is always under construction or repair, and this time was no exception.
En el año 2008 hice una visita guiada con mis hijos, estoy casi segura que la entrada serían como 10€, hoy la visita guiada tiene un valor de 70€ y debes hacer la reservación y visitarlo por tu cuenta son 34€, así que solo la veríamos desde fuera y resultó a media distancia, ya que por ser sábado había bastantes turistas y una protesta local a su alrededor. Hicimos algunas fotografías y nos dirigimos al parque que se encuentra al frente, desde donde se observa en toda su magnitud y nos da una idea más completa de su opulencia.
In 2008, I took a guided tour with my children. I'm pretty sure the entrance fee was around €10, but today the guided tour costs €70, and you have to make a reservation. Visiting on your own costs €34, so we only saw it from the outside, and even that was from a distance, as it was Saturday and there were quite a few tourists and a local protest going on around it. We took some photos and headed to the park opposite, from where you can see it in all its glory and get a better idea of its opulence.
Continuamos nuestro camino hacia el Arco del Triunfo, dónde había una feria del libro en Catalán, con autores, firma de libros, y ponencia, observamos un poco y seguimos nuestro camino hacia una expoventa de miel y productos derivados, adquirí un jabón de exquisito aroma.
We continued on our way to the Arc de Triomphe, where there was a book fair in Catalan, with authors, book signings, and presentations. We looked around for a while and then continued on our way to an exhibition and sale of honey and honey products, where I bought some exquisitely scented soap.
Así llegamos a otro de los lugares que queríamos visitar: los invernaderos unos hermosos espacios con flora tropical, fue muy agradable detenernos un rato y hablar de plantas de plantas de nuestra región con las muchachas.
This brought us to one of the places we wanted to visit: the greenhouses, beautiful spaces filled with tropical flora. It was very pleasant to stop for a while and talk with the girls about plants from our region.
De los invernaderos en un paseo continúo. pasamos al Parque de la Ciudadela, una extensa área para disfrute de niños y adultos que va desde caminerías internas hasta paseos en botes.
From the greenhouses on an adjacent walkway, we move on to Ciudadela Park, a large area for children and adults to enjoy, offering everything from internal walkways to boat rides.
En una parte del parque se encuentra este hermoso lugar llamado Plaza de Sonia Rescalvo Zafra, en memoria a esta joven que fue asesinada a golpes por ser transexual en ese lugar.
La estructura se asemeja al Olimpo y entre sus grutas encontramos deidades mitológicas grecorromanas, como Afrodita y Poseidón.
In one part of the park is this beautiful place called Plaza de Sonia Rescalvo Zafra, in memory of this young woman who was beaten to death for being transgender in that place.
The structure resembles Mount Olympus, and among its grottoes we find Greco-Roman mythological deities such as Aphrodite and Poseidon.
Ya un poco agotadas, buscamos dónde sentarnos para esperar a otro amigo venezolano de mi hija que quería compartir con nosotras el resto de la tarde. Haré una segunda entrega porque también fue un recorrido largo y ya me he extendido bastante. Otro dato importante es que todos estos últimos lugares son de entrada libre.
Already a little tired, we looked for a place to sit and wait for another friend venezuelan of my daughter's who wanted to spend the rest of the afternoon with us. I will write a second installment because it was also a long tour and I have already gone on long enough. Another important fact is that all of these last places are free to enter.
