Saludos amigos de @worldmappin. Hoy les presento un recorrido por Montblanc, uno de los tantos pueblos que pertenecen a la comunidad autónoma de Cataluña en la provincia de Tarragona- España. Como la mayoría de estos pueblos, Montblanc posee un casco antiguo lleno de historia y leyendas que se convierte en una delicia recorrerlo y detenerse a contemplar lo que nos ofrece. Acompañame es este recorrido por sus espacios más emblemáticos. Desde donde estoy ubicada, Torredembarra, a Montblanc hay 50 km que en tren, que fue el transporte que utilizamos, es casi hora y media el trayecto. >Greetings, friends of @ >Today I present a tour of Montblanc, one of the many towns belonging to the autonomous community of Catalonia in the province of Tarragona, Spain. >Like most of these towns, Montblanc has an old town full of history and legends that makes it a delight to explore and stop to contemplate what it has to offer. Join me on this tour of its most emblematic places. >From where I am located, Torredembarra, Montblanc is 50 km away by train, which was the transport we used, and the journey takes almost an hour and a half.  Así que a las 8:00 de la mañana ya estábamos, mi hija y yo, en la estación, abordamos el tren e iniciamos el trayecto, en el camino me sentía muy entusiasmada y con muchas expectativas, pues me había comentado que era un pueblo medieval muy hermoso y que su muralla es la mejor conservada de la región. De la estación a la entrada del casco antiguo es un corto trayecto, llegamos, eran casi las diez de la mañana, la temperatura estaba muy fresca y fiel a mis hábitos, deseaba un sabroso café con leche, pero a esa hora, dentro del pueblito todo estaba cerrado, así que nos fuimos a los alrededores a desayunar y dar tiempo a que despertara el casco antiguo. >So at 8:00 in the morning, my daughter and I were already at the station, we boarded the train and began the journey. On the way, I felt very excited and had high expectations, as I had been told that it was a very beautiful medieval town and that its walls are the best preserved in the region. >It's a short walk from the station to the entrance of the old town. We arrived at around ten in the morning. It was very cool, and true to form, I wanted a nice cup of coffee with milk, but at that time of day, everything in the village was closed, so we went to the surrounding area to have breakfast and give the old town time to wake up.    Ya recargadas, aprovechamos acceder al pueblo por su entrada principal, donde con grandes letras y su muralla de fondo nos dice que estamos en Montblac. >Once we had refueled, we took advantage of the main entrance to the town, where large letters and the wall in the background tell us that we are in Montblac.   Iniciamos el recorrido, llegamos a lo alto y se abre una explanada que nos muestra una parte moderna del pueblo junto a un hermoso puente de piedras que invita a transitarlo y que nos lleva directamente a la escultura de Sant Jordi. Patrón de Cataluña y personaje de leyenda, más adelante les comento sobre este punto. >We began our tour, reaching the top, where an esplanade opens up, showing us a modern part of the town next to a beautiful stone bridge that invites us to cross it and leads us directly to the sculpture of Sant Jordi. He is the patron saint of Catalonia and a legendary figure, which I will tell you more about later.     >Andando, andando, maravilladas por las antiguas construcciones, muchas de ellas hoy restauradas y modernizadas sin perder su esencia, nos fuimos acercando al Convento y Santuario de la Serra, que según la leyenda fue fundado por una princesa griega y se venera a la madre de Dios y es patrona de la villa. >Walking, walking, marveling at the old buildings, many of which have been restored and modernized without losing their essence, we approached the Convent and Sanctuary of La Serra, which according to legend was founded by a Greek princess and is dedicated to the Mother of God, who is the patron saint of the town.   Cercano a este lugar se encuentra una escultura de un campesino como homenaje a ese trabajador de la tierra que con su labor alimenta al pueblo. >Nearby is a sculpture of a peasant, a tribute to the workers of the land who feed the people with their labor.  Así llegamos a la Torre-Portal de Sant Jordi que data del siglo XIV, Al cruzar el portal hay un cartel donde se relata la leyenda de Sant Jordi, la misma cuenta que la comarca estaba azotada por un dragón, ya no quedaba cosecha ni ganado por lo que el rey decidió, que por sorteo, se le entregaría al dragón un súbdito cada día. La princesa era la encargada de extraer el nombre y salió ella misma seleccionada. Dispuesta a cumplir su destino fue al terrorífico encuentro pero de pronto apareció un noble y valiente caballero que luchó contra el dragón y lo venció. Donde cayó la sangre del dragón emergió un rosal de rosas rojas, el caballero cortó una rosa y se la ofreció a la princesa. Por esto, en toda Cataluña, el 23 de abril de cada año es un día para celebrar, donde se acostumbra regalar rosas a las damas y libros a los caballeros. Bueno, me comentaron que la tradición ha ido cambiando y que ahora la mayoría intercambian libros, bonito gesto. >This brings us to the 14th-century Torre-Portal de Sant Jordi. As you pass through the gate, there is a sign recounting the legend of Sant Jordi, which tells how the region was plagued by a dragon, leaving no crops or livestock, so the king decided that, by lottery, one subject would be given to the dragon each day. >The princess was in charge of drawing the name, and she herself was selected. Ready to fulfill her destiny, she went to the terrifying encounter, but suddenly a noble and brave knight appeared, fought the dragon, and defeated it. Where the dragon's blood fell, a rose bush with red roses emerged. The knight cut a rose and offered it to the princess. >For this reason, throughout Catalonia, April 23rd of each year is a day of celebration, when it is customary to give roses to women and books to men. Well, I was told that the tradition has changed and that now most people exchange books, which is a nice gesture.    Continuando nuestro recorrido se encuentra está delicada escultura que representa la sardana, el baile típico de Cataluña, está que representa los demonios del lugar, una representación de la historia de Sant Jordi, otra de los reyes y un hermoso bebedero, entre otra tantas. >Continuing our tour, we find this delicate sculpture representing the sardana, the typical dance of Catalonia, one representing the demons of the place, a representation of the story of Saint George, another of the kings, and a beautiful drinking fountain, among many others.      Adentrándonos al centro del pueblo, llegamos a una exquisita pastelería que solo vende para llevar, así que compramos unos pequeños, atractivos y exquisitos dulces que fuimos a degustar bajo los árboles de una plazoleta. >Once we reached the center of town, we came across an exquisite bakery that only sells takeaway, so we bought some small, attractive, and delicious sweets that we went to enjoy under the trees in a small square. > > > De allí nos fuimos a la catedral del pueblo que es del siglo XIV, hermosa con sus relieves de fachada y vitrales. pasamos por el museo de los pesebres, cuya fachada tiene un bello trabajo de herrería. >From there, we went to the town's 14th-century cathedral, beautiful with its facade reliefs and stained glass windows. We passed by the nativity scene museum, whose facade has beautiful ironwork.  Ya con esto dimos por finalizado el recorrido y nos dispusimos a salir del casco antiguo para ir a comer en un restaurante que mi hija conocía, teníamos el tiempo justo para comer con calma e ir a tomar el tren. Cerca del restaurante está la entrada del pueblo y la bienvenida te la da este poco amigable dragón. >With that, we ended our tour and left the old town to go eat at a restaurant my daughter knew. We had just enough time to eat calmly and catch the train. Near the restaurant is the entrance to the town, where you are greeted by this unfriendly dragon.  Después de tan bello e instructivo paseo donde todo engrana perfectamente, suceden imprevistos que te desajustan un poco pero que no dejan de ser parte de la aventura del turista. La salida del tren estaba pautada para las 2 de la tarde, cual claveles estábamos allí puntuales, pues el tren no llegó, luego de una larga espera sin que se solucionará la avería, que la compañía no proporcionará una alternativa y que del lugar solo sale un bus hacia Tarragona a las 11 de la mañana, nos encontramos varadas en el lugar. Ya para las cinco de la tarde viendo que el asunto no cambiaría llamamos a un taxi que nos llevará a Tarragona, donde tomaríamos un autobús que nos llevaría a Torredembarra. La gracia nos costó sesenta euros, lo que se llama un verdadero desperdicio necesario. Así terminó nuestra visita a este encantador pueblo lleno de historia y leyendas. >After such a beautiful and informative walk where everything fits together perfectly, unexpected events occur that throw you off a bit but are still part of the tourist's adventure. >The train was scheduled to leave at 2 p.m., and we were there on time, but the train didn't arrive. After a long wait without the problem being resolved, and with the company unable to provide an alternative and only one bus leaving for Tarragona at 11 a.m., we found ourselves stranded there. >By 5 p.m., seeing that the situation wasn't going to change, we called a taxi to take us to Tarragona, where we would take a bus to Torredembarra. The ride cost us sixty euros, which was a real waste of money.
