La imagen de esta semana es súper sugestiva, pues despierta ese goloso que tenemos todos dentro; en casa normalmente mamá, desde que éramos pequeños, nos hacía tortas, tanto así le gustaban, que ella comenzó a hacer tortas de caja, después fue poco a poco sacando su propia receta y para adornar las tortas hacia un merengue, divino, que ya prendió con una señora amiga y como no sabía utilizar ni duya, ni manga, para hacer unos decorados bonitos, a las tortas les hacía el mar embravecido, que consistía en echarle todo el Nevado encima al bizcocho y después con una cuchara, levantar olas, picos. Ese es el propio mar y por años tuvimos comiendo mar embravecido, pero qué cosa tan rica, porque el merengue tenía un sabor fabuloso, que aún todavía me acuerdo y salivo. Después mamá hizo un curso con una señora repostera, bastante renombrada aquí en mi ciudad Cumaná y aprendió a utilizar los implementos para adornar las tortas, allí todos aprendimos a hacer florecitas de pastillaje, aprendimos a utilizar la manga, pero lo único que no se me da, para nada, es poner licito el merengue sobre el bizcocho, siempre me queda estropeado, así que yo sigo utilizando mi mar embravecido que me encanta tanto. Mamá se volvió una experta haciendo tortas, la volteada de piña le queda espectacular, la de chocolate también le queda divina, la marmoleada que es una especie de bizcocho entre vainilla y chocolate parece una cebra, le queda riquísimo el bizcocho, hay una torta de naranja que es hecha con jugo de naranja y es muy fabulosa también y bueno y la de que siempre nos preparaba siendo niños y todavía nos la prepara, es la torta con frescolita, en vez de utilizar jugo o leche en la mezcla del bizcocho, utiliza frescolita y sabe buenísimo y tiene un tono como rosado, muy atractiva para los niños, es divino ese bizcocho, lo único es la sobrecarga de azúcar nos pone, a millón, pero bueno nada como una torta con un vaso de leche para merendar ¡Qué rico!

This week's image is super evocative, as it awakens the sweet tooth we all have inside us. At home, since we were little, our mom used to make us cakes. She liked them so much that she started making boxed cakes, then she gradually developed her own recipe and to decorate the cakes she made a divine meringue, which caught on with a lady friend of hers. As she didn't know how to use a piping bag or a piping nozzle to make pretty decorations, she made a stormy sea on the cakes, which consisted of pouring all the icing on top of the sponge and then using a spoon to create waves and peaks. That's the sea itself, and for years we ate stormy sea, but what a delicious thing, because the meringue had a fabulous flavor that I still remember and salivate over. Then my mother took a course with a pastry chef who was quite renowned here in my city of Cumaná, and she learned how to use the tools to decorate cakes. There we all learned how to make little fondant flowers and how to use a piping bag, but the only thing I can't do at all is pipe the meringue onto the cake. It always ends up ruined, so I continue to use my rough sea, which I love so much. Mom became an expert at making cakes. Her pineapple cake is spectacular, her chocolate cake is also divine, and her marbled cake, which is a kind of cake between vanilla and chocolate that looks like a zebra, is delicious. there's an orange cake made with orange juice that's also fabulous, and the one she always made for us when we were kids and still makes for us today is the cake with Frescolita. Instead of using juice or milk in the cake mixture, she uses Frescolita, and it tastes great and has a pinkish hue that's very appealing to children. That cake is divine, the only thing is that it's loaded with sugar, but hey, there's nothing like a cake with a glass of milk for a snack. How delicious!
