Denim bag renovation [Esp/Eng]

 Hola a todos, por aquí saludando a la hermosa comunidad @needleworkmonday para compartir un trabajo que hice con mucho cariño con la ayuda de mi mamá. > Hello everyone, here I am greeting the beautiful @needleworkmonday community to share a project I made with lots of love and with my mom’s help.    Todo comienza porque estaba revisando cosas viejas que ya no usaba desde hace mucho, ya que quería botar lo que no se podía utilizar más o reusar aquello que sí se le podía sacar provecho, en vez de tener todo eso ahí guardado solo ocupando espacio, así fue cómo vi que un bolso de jean aún tenía mucho potencial. > It all started because I was going through old things I hadn’t used in a long time, since I wanted to throw away what couldn’t be used anymore or reuse what still had potential, instead of keeping everything stored just taking up space. That’s how I saw that a denim bag still had a lot of potential. |  |  | | ------------ | ------------ | |  |  | Este bolso me trae demasiados recuerdos porque hubo un tiempo que lo llevaba al colegio, recuerdo que en los bolsillos de adelante metía mi termo de agua, por lo que de tanto uso ya las costuras estaban descosidas algunas y hasta la tela tenía partes rotas. > This bag brings back so many memories because there was a time I used to take it to school. I remember I used to put my water bottle in the front pockets, so from so much use, some seams had come undone and even the fabric had torn in places. Aún así, me pareció que se le podía dar otra oportunidad porque he visto bolsos de jean muy bonitos que les colocan parches o también tienen partes así desgastadas, entonces lo saqué y le comenté a mi mamá la idea de lo que quería hacer y ella se ofreció en guiarme y ayudarme en el proceso. > Still, I thought it deserved another chance because I’ve seen very pretty denim bags with patches or worn-out parts like that. So I took it out and told my mom the idea of what I wanted to do, and she offered to guide and help me through the process. |  |  | | ------------ | ------------ | |  |  | Lo primero que hice fue descoser el forro para así poder ver cómo estaba la parte de adentro del bolso. Como la base era lo que estaba más roto, se nos ocurrió la idea de cortar esa base para colocarle otra de una tela diferente rosada que tenía mi mamá, me gustó la idea porque así también daría un toque bonito. Entonces descosí la base original, planché todo para que la tela quedara lisa y luego corté recto. > The first thing I did was to unstitch the lining so I could see how the inside of the bag was. Since the base was the most damaged part, we came up with the idea of cutting it off and replacing it with a different pink fabric my mom had. I liked the idea because it would also give it a nice touch. So I removed the original base, ironed everything so the fabric would be smooth, and then cut it straight. |  |  | | ------------ | ------------ | |  |  | Después recorté un rectángulo de la tela rosada que les comentaba, asegurándome que cumpliera con las medidas de la base de mi bolso. También recorté dos rectángulos más delgados que luego utilizaríamos para hacerle las agarraderas al bolso. > Then I cut a rectangle from the pink fabric I mentioned, making sure it matched the measurements of the bag’s base. I also cut two thinner rectangles that we would later use to make the bag’s handles.   Esos rectángulos más pequeños, mi mamá los cosió por el revés dejando una parte sin coser que fue por donde lo volteó, quedando dos tiras gruesas que luego unió a las agarraderas del bolso. Esto lo hizo con la intención de que el bolso fuera más largo y por lo tanto más fácil de usarlo. > My mom sewed those smaller rectangles inside out, leaving one part unstitched so she could turn them inside out, resulting in two thick straps that she then attached to the bag’s handles. She did this so the bag would be longer and therefore easier to use. |  |  | | ------------ | ------------ | |  |  | Me encantó esa idea que tuvo, porque además arriba le hicimos un nudo que me pareció muy original. No podemos olvidar también planchar para que quedaran planas y bonitas. > I loved that idea she had, because we also tied a knot at the top which I found very original. Let’s not forget to iron them too so they’d look flat and nice.   Después le dimos los toques finales que fue con una aguja a mano coser esas partes muy gruesas que con la máquina no se podían hacer, eso fue principalmente en los bolsillos. También con silicón líquido, pegué pequeñas partes del interior de un bolsillo que estaban rotas y no quería recortarlas. > Then we added the final touches, which involved hand-sewing the very thick parts that couldn’t be done with the machine, mainly in the pockets. I also used liquid silicone to glue small torn parts inside a pocket that I didn’t want to cut off.  Y así fue cómo quedó mi bolso 🩷 > And that’s how my bag turned out 🩷  Cómo podrán ver hay una gran diferencia entre el bolso viejo y este remodelado. Le cambiamos la base, la agarradera también ahora es mucho más grande, lo que me permite poder ponérmelo cruzado y también la estructura se siente mucho más resistente. > As you can see, there’s a big difference between the old bag and this remodeled one. We changed the base, the handle is now much bigger, which allows me to wear it crossbody, and the structure feels much more resistant. Al iniciar este proyecto yo solo tenía pensado coser esas partes que ya se habían roto y listo, pero mi mamá pensó que era buena idea cambiar algunas partes por la tela rosada y con su ayuda lo pude hacer, fue una excelente idea porque el resultado quedó mucho mejor de lo que esperaba. > When I started this project, I only planned to sew the parts that had torn and that’s it, but my mom thought it was a good idea to change the pink fabric, and with her help I was able to do it. It was an excellent idea because the result turned out much better than I expected.    Ahora este bolso tendrá mucho más tiempo de uso y lo mejor fue que aproveché algo que tenía tiempo guardado y le di otra oportunidad. Estos días lo he usado mucho porque es del tamaño perfecto para que entren mis cosas cuando salgo. También le puse mi llavero de concha de mar y se ve muy bonito en él. Espero que les haya gustado. Nos vemos la próxima. > Now this bag will have a much longer life, and the best part is that I made use of something that had been stored away for a long time and gave it another chance. I’ve been using it a lot these days because it’s the perfect size to carry my things when I go out. I also added my seashell keychain and it looks very pretty on it. I hope you liked it.
