Margarita pintada en los muros de La Asunción [Esp/Eng]

Sin embargo, ayer domingo en la mañana, me enteré mientras veía TikTok que estaban haciendo nuevos murales en La Asunción. Por lo que vi en el video estaban en proceso, pero me dieron ganas de ir a ver qué tal estaban quedando, así que en la tarde fui con mi novio y su amigo a dar un paseo por las bonitas calles de La Asunción, ya que ellos también tenían ganas de verlos. >Hello everyone! I'm happy to be here again, greeting the Hive Margarita community 🌴💕. I’ve been a few days without posting as usual because a transformer exploded near where I live, which left us without electricity for about 12 hours on Saturday. My phone ran out of battery completely, and my daily activities got all out of sync. However, yesterday morning, while scrolling through TikTok, I found out that new murals were being painted in La Asunción. From what I saw in the video, they were still in progress, but it made me really want to go see how they were coming along. So in the afternoon, I went with my boyfriend and his friend to take a walk through the beautiful streets of La Asunción, since they were also curious to check them out.         Cuando llegamos, lo primero que vimos fue esta calle angosta llena de murales por los dos lados. El lado izquierdo, estaba especialmente resaltando mujeres importantes en la historia, así como la iglesia y hasta una cotorra margariteña volando. >When we arrived, the first thing we saw was this narrow street filled with murals on both sides. The left side especially highlighted important women in history, as well as the church and even a flying Margarita parrot.          Este parece que rinde homenaje a los orígenes indígenas de nuestra región y al impacto que tuvo la llegada de los europeos, lo reflejaron de una forma artística que me encantó, todos los pequeños detalles en los dibujos me hace pensar en el talento de las personas que hicieron estos murales. >This one seems to pay tribute to the indigenous origins of our region and the impact brought by the arrival of the Europeans. They portrayed it in an artistic way that I absolutely loved. All the small details in the drawings make me think about the talent of the people who created these murals.     Luego venía este mural, pintado con colores rosados, rojos y morados principalmente y que parecía hacer referencia a la exploración de lugares nuevos en busca de perlas hermosas. Margarita fue durante mucho tiempo, uno de los principales lugares donde extraían perlas en el Caribe, y esa actividad marcó fuertemente la vida de sus habitantes, desde los pueblos indígenas hasta los colonizadores. >Next came this mural, painted mainly in shades of pink, red, and purple, which seemed to reference the exploration of new places in search of beautiful pearls. For a long time, Margarita was one of the main locations for pearl extraction in the Caribbean, and that activity deeply shaped the lives of its inhabitants, from the indigenous peoples to the colonizers.        Ahora llegamos a mi mural favorito. Es difícil elegir uno porque todos estaban hermosos, pero este tenía un brillo que me hizo escogerlo de favorito. Ese ojo verde en el centro del pescado llamaba mucho la atención. Mientras yo estaba ahí tomando fotos, también habían otros señores observando los murales y uno dijo que estaba espectacular este mural y que también era su favorito, por la creatividad. Algo que resaltaba además eras esa mano que sostenía al pescado, que se extendía hasta el suelo, y que nos fijamos que hacía la ilusión de que era la red que lo atrapó. >Now we arrived at my favorite mural. It’s hard to choose just one because they were all beautiful, but this one had a glow that made me pick it as my favorite. That green eye in the center of the fish really stood out. While I was there taking photos, there were also some older gentlemen observing the murals, and one of them said this mural was spectacular and also his favorite because of its creativity. Another striking detail was the hand holding the fish, which extended all the way to the ground, and we noticed it created the illusion of being the net that had caught it.          Después de un rato de estar ahí, conversando sobre cada mural, sus detalles y posibles significados, nos fuimos a la plaza y nos sorprendió con algunos cambios. No solo que habían muchos más murales, sino también que La Asunción que antes eran letras blancas, las habían pintado y ahora cada letra tenía algo distinto y representativo. Estaban bellas y muy llamativas, no pude dejar de tomarme una foto junto a esas letras. >After spending some time there, talking about each mural, its details, and possible meanings, we headed to the plaza, and were surprised by a few changes. Not only were there many more murals, but the “La Asunción” sign, which used to be plain white letters, had been painted. Now, each letter had something different and symbolic. They looked beautiful and very eye-catching, I couldn’t resist taking a photo next to those letters.        Me percaté de que en una casa, un señor seguía dandole los toques finales a un mural, o sea los sombreados, porque ya tenía la base y él estaba añadiendo sombras y pequeños detalles. A lado de ese me encontré con uno con la imagen de los pescadores margariteños. >I noticed that at one house, a man was still adding the final touches to a mural, specifically the shading, since the base was already done and he was working on shadows and small details. Next to that one, I came across a mural featuring the image of Margarita’s fishermen.        El último mural nuevo de la plaza era dedicado a las aves de margariteñas. Entre cotorras, guacamayas, toldos, pelícanos y hasta una culebra, una persona tenía en su cabeza un cactus. >The last new mural in the plaza was dedicated to Margarita’s birds. Among parrots, macaws, frigatebirds, pelicans, and even a snake, there was a person with a cactus growing out of their head.     Despues de caminar de un lado a otro buscando murales, nos sentamos a descansar las piernas en la plaza. Fue muy relajante porque estaba muy fresca, la brisa sabrosa, muchas personas conversando. Me fijé que había más gente que la vez anterior que fui, me imagino que era porque también querían ver los nuevos murales. >After walking back and forth looking for murals, we sat down in the plaza to rest our legs. It was very relaxing because the air was cool, the breeze was lovely, and many people were chatting. I noticed there were more people than the last time I visited, I imagine they were also there to see the new murals.                  Que bonito me hizo sentir estar ahí sentada, pudiendo disfrutar de estas bellezas y de la naturaleza, de la brisa refrescante y de las presonas que nos rodean. Me encanta ser margariteña y al ver esos murales pienso en lo bonito que es sentir que parte de nuestra historia se convierta en arte para que muchas personas de diferentes lugares puedan apreciarlo cuando visiten La Asunción. Los murales no solo embellecen estos espacios, sino que también lo transforman en un punto de encuentro entre arte y la comunidad. I love being Margariteña, and seeing those murals makes me think about how special it is to feel that part of our history becomes art, so that many people from different places can appreciate it when they visit La Asunción.
