Engineer’s Day - A reminder of the six year fight for an academic degree [ENG/SPA]

Engineer's Day represents much more to me than just celebrating my profession; it's a reminder of a period in my life defined by hard work and immense sacrifice. I decided to study Electronic Engineering after getting married and with a child on the way. It was a late start, but I believed at the time that I had to rise to the size of the challenge before me. Crucially, I had my wife's support. Decido estudiar ingeniería electrónica ya estando casado y con un hijo en camino, algo tarde pero creía en ese momento que debía ser del tamaño del reto que tuviera por delante, además contaba con el apoyo de mi esposa, recien casados teníamos muchas metas y visión del futuro.  Due to a difficult family situation and other commitments that required me to work, I started my studies quite late. My job was physically demanding and exhausting. I would leave work at 5:00 PM and start class at 5:30 PM, finishing at 10:30 PM. I would arrive home late, eat, study, and sleep for only two or three hours before returning to work. Saturdays offered no rest; I had to attend classes from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. This routine lasted six years, and to this day, it has left its mark on my health. >Debido a tener que salir a trabajar por la mala situación familiar y otros compromisos que debía atender, comencé mis estudios algo tarde. Mi trabajo era físico y agotador, salía de trabajar a las 5 y entraba a clases a las 5 y 30 pm, salía a las 10 y 30 pm y llegaba a casa tarde para comer, estudiar, dormir unos 2 o 3 horas para volver a trabajar. Los sábados no podía dormir hasta tarde, debía ir a clases de 8 am a 4 pm, fueron 6 años de una rutina que hasta el día de hoy ha dejado secuelas en mi salud. I know, of course, that it might have been easier if my decisions had been different, but it is what it is. Regardless, I fought for what I wanted. Since childhood, I always aspired to be an engineer like my father, and although I started the journey late, I achieved it. Therefore, doing something that brings me joy and helps clear away the tough feelings of nostalgia for what I endured to get here is very important to me. >Por eso el día del ingeniero es importante para mí, me recuerda el inmenso sacrificio que tuve que hacer. Claro que se que pudo ser mas sencillo si mis decisiones hubieran sido otras, pero es lo que es, igualmente luche por lo que quería, desde niño siempre quise ser ingeniero como mi padre y a pesar que comencé el camino tarde, lo logré. Por eso hacer algo que me generé alegría y despeje ese duro sentimiento de nostalgia por lo vivido para lograrlo, es muy importante para mí.  Some companies host events for their engineering professionals on this day, but I have been self-employed for many years. I divide my time between contract work, supporting my wife’s business, and blogging here on Hive. If I want to celebrate, I have to do something on my own. So, this time, I am slowly saving up for a trip. I want to go somewhere that gives me peace and rest, where I can stay for several days.
