Description from Strava: Its been a productive week training wise
Its been a busy week generally to be honest... after the lull of the 'Summer Holidays', work is begining to get busy again. I also managed to get my exam revision done, ready for another accountancy exam next week, and we've been busy getting sorted in preparation for my partner heading back to university tomorrow
Despite all this, I've still managed to keep up with regular training, with plenty of walking, running and exercises as seen below
The picture shows 5x weight training, but this just how strava logs it. In reality I'm doing a combination of strength exercises, stretches and general mobility work... all focused around my calf/hip niggles from the previous 12 months in order to prevent any more mishaps.
The routine is still the same as the last few weeks. I walk to work 4 days a week (6km), run home 4 days a week (another 6km), and then after the run I do some strength/stretching for 10-25 minutes depending on how I feel.
On the Saturday, I do my 'long run' of the week, and I've been slowly increasing that in preparation for the half marathon (21.1km) in 3 weeks time. Two weeks ago I did 9km, last week I did 12km and then earlier today I did 16km... so that is progressing nicely. I think I'll stick to consolidating at 16km for the next 2 weeks, and then I should be ready to tackle the full race on the 3rd week
Considering I'm 'out of practice' I was pleasantly surprised how relaxed and 'comfortable' the run felt today (especially considering its my longest run since February)
This years training really has been rubbish!!
So yeah, pleased to report that training is now finally heading in the right direction :-)
In other news, we are packing the car tonight, so that my partner and I can drive up to Carlisle first thing tomorrow morning. Once there, I'll help her unpack and carry all her ~~junk~~ stuff for for uni, and then I'll leave her and get the train back home to Lincoln
Its gonna be a long old day: 4 hours in the car, 2 hours unpacking the car, and then 5 hours via 3 trains to get back home. I have done this 3 times now so I should be used to it, and besides, this is the 4th and final year of her course, so once it is done, I won't ever have to do it again!

About the Athlete: Living in the UK, I am an intermittent Runner, but always striving for more consistency. When I'm not training I can be found photographing insects or listening to really loud angry music (which is the best type of music obviously!)
