Description from Strava: Well, after weeks of trying to get to parkrun, and weeks of making excuses, i finally made it to Lincoln Parkrun

technically i was 5 minutes late to the start, but thats a minor detail!

I got up early enough this morning, but end up faffing around, so i was later leaving the house than planned. I arrived in Boultham Park at 8:58, but they had closed one of the paths. A small detour later, i arrived at the start line at 9:04. Often this parkrun starts late, but of course today it started precisely on time.

I started on my own as everyone had disappeared into the distance, but after a few minutes i had caught up with the tail walkers, and then spent the next 27 minutes overtaking the slower runners.

After a pause to get a drink, i scanned my barcode and token, and then it was time to carry on with my run. It is if course time for my 'long run' of the week, and today i was aiming for 18-20km. So instead of turning round and running straight back home. I decided to take the long, scenic, route via Waddington.

heading up Station Road into Waddington

I left Boultham Park and headed through the streets towards Brant Road. After struggling to cross the road (its a very busy junction) I finally managed to crossed over. Then it was a matter of meandering through the various housing estates, until it joins up to Station Road. Along the road and up the hill into Waddington, and then it was just a couple of km to get back into Bracebridge Heath. I checked my watch, and it said 18.5km, and i decided that was enough for today.

It was a beautiful day by the way, on the chilly side at 5C, but clear blue skies and plenty of sunshine

I have got my parkrun time of 31.17, which is technically correct, but obviously not the right time as i was approx. 5 minutes late starting. Checking my Strava stats, it says i ran 5km in 26:36 which is probably a more accurate reflection of my parkrun effort.

No matter, i said I'd get to parkrun, and today i managed it, so thats a win in my book!

Its time for a shower, and some lunch and then I'll be heading over to visit Dad to help him fill in some forms. Shouldn't be too difficult to be honest, but i think he just wants a second pair of eyes on them before posting it. And then later on this evening, I'll be catching up with my partner again, and getting the latest on her uni studies

About the Athlete: Living in the UK, I am an intermittent Runner, but always striving for more consistency. When I'm not training I can be found photographing insects or listening to really loud angry music (which is the best type of music obviously!)
