Hello everybody! Walking around the cities, I try to notice interesting architectural details. Sometimes I purposefully go to photograph sights, and sometimes it happens unexpectedly. Walking around the city of Pinsk, I happened to see one of the most unusual and creative squares. At first I thought that a small area is one of the next attractions, but later it turned out that this is not entirely true. First of all, this place is a children's park (another name is a children's town) stylized as elements of an ancient castle. This place seemed very interesting to me and I decided to stop and take a closer look at it.
The children's park in Pinsk was built in the 80s of the last century. This place is conceived by the authorities as a place for recreation of small residents of the city. On the territory, in addition to the usual alleys, many buildings stylized as medieval fortifications were built. The main material of the buildings is a special red brick and logs. However, gradually the park fell into decay and desolation. The buildings began to pose a threat to the townspeople and their children. In 2015, it was declared emergency and many of the structures were dismantled. The entrances and windows in the remaining towers were isolated. But not everything is as bad as it seems. Currently, on the site of the demolished buildings, it is planned to build new ones, but in a different architectural style. It will be interesting what will appear in this place, but in the meantime, let's take a look at those buildings that are no longer there.
Amazing and unusual children's park... isn't it? Photo source
The main entrances to the "children's town" are the only elements of the children's park that have survived to this day. They are miniature copies of the walls and towers of a medieval castle. This miniature architectural ensemble looks unusual and is made in such a way that when you enter the park, you feel the atmosphere of the ancient era. I think it allows children to develop their imagination and just have fun. In my opinion, the central element of these buildings are high towers. The largest of them have an entrance inside, but the doors are locked. There are two reasons for this. This is primarily due to the risk of injury. There is a second reason - the interior of the towers was chosen by homeless people.
I am impressed by the initiative to create theme parks. It may seem that brick buildings can be traumatic for children. In addition, the current trend implies safety. However, during the existence of the "children's town" in Pinsk, none of the children suffered. On the contrary, such buildings are not only an interesting place to entertain children, but also an excellent attraction of the ancient city. I'm a big fan of medieval architecture, but surviving but medieval castles are a rarity. Therefore, to see in the center of the city a small complex of buildings stylized as part of an ancient castle is an aesthetic pleasure.
I would like to believe that having arrived in Pinsk in the near future, I will be able to see the castle complex recreated in a new guise. I think that this children's park has every chance to become a place of attraction for city residents and tourists again. One way or another, this place deserves your attention.
