3:02pm I have completed copying those from my index cards. Next up, Oct 14-22 but I have not spent much money so there's only a few more receipts to go.
3:17pm ok I completed the most current receipts in my wallet, and I was like, "did I have no transactions for a week?" but no, I remember I do have all the receipts already organized into envelopes loosely, so I can transcribe them onto the index card. Here we go! 3:18pm
3:44pm Now Oct 16, 17th and 18th receipts are index card recorded and put into envelopes. Next to double record them on my weekly sheet.
4:12pm The Oct 19th and 20th index cards and entries are almost complete. 4:25pm I am.
I have also made a list of all the 'Places' where I spend money regularly, which I count around 22. How much did I spend at each place this month, this summer, all year? I will eventually add up.
I have my weekly tracking sheets prepared for the next 8 days, and I have enough index cards and envelops to last me until November, but i will need to buy more to close out this year properly.
This simple system is working for me, and you need not do anything fancier than use a pen and some paper to keep track of where your money is going each week. Find a system that works for you, but keep your eye on your shadow and don't let your habits get in the way of your goals.
