I used to shovel sidewalks for 50 cents as a kid, which was good money due to the silver content of those coins! I am not sure who decided to take the money out of our coins.

'The approximate current silver melt value of a 0.1507 oz 0.1507 oz pre-1966 Canadian quarter is about $8.56 Canadian dollars as of September 2025.'*

So I was smart to charge fifty cents for shovelling a sidewalk, those quarters had I kept them would be worth $8.56. I was earning $17.12 per sidewalk! That's value.
