I was struck with how close our hotel was to this tiny airstrip! I did not expect this; incredibly cool and unusual it was. Not to mention, little brown rabbits here there and everywhere. Where was I? It was like I landed on another planet. So far, this week long vacation was off to a pretty good start. Wow, could hardly wait to start exploring the whole island tomorrow. Basically this was our first real experience on Vancouver Island; several years earlier we did spend and afternoon in Nanaimo with a quick ferry ride in and out, but did not get a chance to properly explore the island.
