Beyond just an environment to learn and get formal education, the school walls present more than that. Some of the memories one could go on to hold for life are gotten from this environment and this setting. And they remain valuable for life; memories held dear for what they mean to the person.
I doubt that one would say they've gone through education in this part of the world and would end up without some wonderful memories to hold to heart. Funny, some could seem. Others could emanate from some serious incidents that leave marks etched in our memories, so unforgettable that we recall them when such discussions arise.
The school environment is a learning ground for every sort of knowledge beyond the conventional educational knowledge we acquire. One of the ways knowledge gets acquired is through these experiences; fun or pain that we learn from. In whatever sense, they leave us with some life experiences and wonderful memories to look back on.
From the very moment of stepping into school, memories began to build. The journey to school, the first weekend and then finally attending classes. You know the newbie thing when you get to school. I wasn't much of a victim though as I had some guidance from a friend who was already there. It helped a lot. But you can't deny a newcomer some moments still.
I remember attending one of my first lectures, and it was all going well. Not until I discovered I was attending the wrong course, a different one altogether from my department’s. I had to walk out during the lecture when I realised that. Thankfully, I later found where my supposed department lecture was being held and attended. All that was some memorable moments, and there was more later on.
One of the aspects of my school period that has left funny moments and memories was the design presentations we underwent. We do a lot of it and it is never void of some laughable, and sometimes crying moments. I remember this one I was told of how a jury told one of the students that his suit was looking way better than his design. Then asked him to pull off the suit. I can't help but laugh every time I remember this or when it comes up in discussion with my mates.
Other moments that I hold in good memories were the football training sessions we had. Before school became extremely busy and demanding, we did engage in football training sessions and played matches occasionally. It did continue though later on but there was less participation and commitment than before. How we laughed and made jokes during the sessions remains in my memories.
Well, I can't fail to mention one of the major places in school that has left me with a load of memories and experiences. I find myself sometimes wishing for those times. I'm talking about my fellowship in school. I do imagine what school would have been like without such a family. From the general fellowship family to my level family, it was all memorable. The programs, the love feasts, the meetings; all were filled with beautiful memories, and yes, funny ones too.
As mentioned earlier, the school environment presents a whole lot more than just a space for academic learning. Some of the things and memories we could hold for life emanated or will emanate from there. Mine did well to give me those wonderful and funny experiences that won't be forgotten.
