I know it's late to be making a response on this prompt but no, I just can't pass it by. We're talking about horror movies here, how can I fail to write on that given that I've been interested in some recently? Or the genre as a whole, I might say. From when I saw the prompt, I knew I had to make a response to it.
So, here I am, on this not cool and not hot Thursday morning. It's past 2 AM. Sitting on the chair before my table, I try to bring up this piece within the comfort of my room.
Maybe I shouldn't be writing about horror movies at this time. What if they show up? Well, the child in me would say that. But not now when I have what seems to be a growing interest in the horror movie genre. I should be scared perhaps. The suspense, the thrills, the silence that whispers, the supernatural builds intensity. Funny enough, I tend to watch these movies in the night, lights off. It gives a real horror feeling. Don't look at me like that please. Haha.

I've heard of “The Conjuring” and knew I had to watch it. This is a horror movie that goes beyond just a movie, but a representation of the actions of a couple who dedicated themselves to fighting evil. Like “The Pope's Exorcist” which was based on true events, so was the “The Conjuring” franchise, capturing events/cases around the late 1900s.
Ed and Lorraine Warren were paranormal investigators whose major cases were produced in three-part movies forming the franchise. The movies were a battle between good and evil, light and darkness, spirits possessing humans and paranormal investigators fighting them. The couple were more than just paranormal investigators, they were Christians and believers in God.

There were moments in the movies that would make one scared, and I was watching them in the night. In a battle between light and darkness, good and evil, demonic oppression/possession and a fight against these demons, you shouldn't expect less. Some of the scenes in the first movie showed a mother possessed and being used by the spirit to almost murder her daughter.
You could feel the intensity in every moment, your hair on the skin rising and the darkness gaining some thickness, as if to say a hand would come out and grab you. I remained resolute in watching till the end. Through the suspense, intensity, and screams, I desired to still see why the Warrens would give themselves unto such an unpalatable and unpopular path in life.

Ed was an artist and more like a priest, his wife Lorraine had the supernatural ability to see beyond the physical. This made them a formidable duo who were dedicated to fighting evil forces that sought to oppress others. In the main cases presented by the franchise, they had to help families oppressed and individuals particularly in the families that were possessed.
The fights almost cost them their lives at some point. But I saw how a couple that walked together and agreed in Holy unity could stand against barbaric spiritual forces. The fourth and last movie in this franchise will soon be out, or it already is. I'll find time to watch that too, and you can be sure that it will be at night. Chuckles.
