Recibí una llamada saliendo de un ensayo con una invitación: ya se estrenó la nueva obra de Miguel; vamos? Claro que sí, le respondí al guitarrista de la banda INSANIA. Me fui directo de ensayar con Gaby Domingo al "callejón del artista" en sabana grande. Solo era cuestión de esperar al guitarrista que me había llamado para entrar a la obra. Yo estaba esperando con el bajista de Domingo y un amigue invitado por el. Me moría de cansancio. Estaba fuera de casa desde el medio día y ya eran las 7 de la noche.
> I got a call as I was leaving a rehearsal with an invitation: Miguel's new show was premiering; were we going? Of course, I answered the guitarist from the band INSANIA. I went straight from rehearsing with Gaby Domingo to the "artist's alley" in Sabana Grande. It was just a matter of waiting for the guitarist who had called me to join the show. I was waiting with Domingo's bassist and a friend he'd invited. I was dying of exhaustion. I'd been out of the house since noon, and it was already 7 p.m.
Cuando llegaron los demás, Miguel, quien es el actor de la obra a la que fuimos invitdos, nos llevó a una mesa dentro y pedimos unas cervezas. Estar sentado era todo lo que necesitaba después de estar todo el día parado y caminando, cargando con instrumentos bajo una pepa de sol. Ya después de eso todo salió súper bien. Descansé, me enfríe con una cerveza y entramos a ver la obra. Trataba de un militar venezolano y su esposa en la época en la que luchamos con los españoles para independizarnos. Todo el mundo la pasó mal en ese periodo. Y la moraleja es no te relaciones con personas que estén en el medio de una lucha política porque la violencia te va a salpicar sí o sí.
> When the others arrived, Miguel, who is the actor in the play we were invited to, led us to a table inside, and we ordered some beers. Sitting down was all I needed after standing and walking all day, carrying instruments in the blazing sun. After that, everything went super well. I rested, cooled off with a beer, and we went in to see the play. It was about a Venezuelan soldier and his wife during the time we fought against the Spanish for independence. Everyone had a rough time during that period. And the moral is, don't associate with people who are in the middle of a political struggle because violence will definitely come back to haunt you.
Luego de comer los dioses me sonrieron de nuevo ya que andábamos con un amigo de el baterista de la banda que tenía carro y el chico tuvo la súper generosidad de ofrecerse a llevarnos a todos. Eso cayó de anillo al dedo. Debo recordarles que tenía todo el día parado y caminando bajo el sol con instrumentos encima.
> After eating, the gods smiled on me again, as we were with a friend of the band's drummer who had a car, and the guy was so generous as to offer us all a ride. It was a perfect fit. I must remind you, I'd been standing and walking around in the sun all day with my instruments on me.
Luego de eso, todos nos miramos de hambre así que salimos a por unos perros calientes. Nada como un perro caliente a las 8 de la noche en medio de sabana grande para saciar el hambre.
> After that, we all looked hungry, so we went out for some hot dogs. Nothing like a hot dog at 8 p.m. in the middle of the savannah to satisfy your hunger.
Al llegar a mi casa caí destruido a dormir de una. Creo que aun me estoy recuperando.
When I got home, I fell asleep right away. I think I'm still recovering.
