I am not going to pretend I know a lot about this church, I came to this church a couple of times in my life, but this is the only time I am able to capture night view.
If you're into reading history and facts, I will let AI do the work after the photography showdown. And there will be a little extras I have captured at the parking bay, viewing outwards from the church.
So here we go.

History
Foundation:
In 1903, French missionary Father Emile Terrien purchased land in the Brickfields area of Kuala Lumpur to build a church for the city's Chinese Catholic community.
Construction:
Designed by Father L. Lambert, who had architectural training, construction began in 1903 and was completed about 18 months later in November 1904.
Expansion:
The church has been expanded over the years to serve its growing congregation. Additions in the 1950s included new wings, a proper roof, and a tall steeple.
Restoration:
The church was renovated in 2003 for its 100-year anniversary and underwent other modernization efforts in the 1980s.
120th Anniversary:
In October 2023, the church celebrated its 120th anniversary with a nine-day novena and mass.
Architecture
Neo-Gothic Style:
The building is a fine example of French neo-Gothic architecture, featuring classic elements like pointed arches and lancet windows with tracery.
Stained-Glass Windows:
Inside, the church is decorated with beautiful stained-glass windows. Five original windows depicting the Mysteries of the Rosary were designed by Father Lambert during the church's initial construction and were saved during the Japanese occupation. Additional panels were added later.
Bell Tower and Steeple:
The facade includes a projecting bell tower with a steeple surmounted by a cross.
Traditional Plan:
The interior features a traditional cruciform plan, with a rib-vaulted nave and double aisles.
Significance
Religious and Cultural Landmark:
The church has been a spiritual home for the Chinese Catholic community in Kuala Lumpur for over a century and is considered one of the city's important heritage sites.
Architectural Heritage:
The building is widely admired for its pre-war European architectural style, which is well-preserved and unique in Malaysia.
Vibrant Community:
The parish remains active, with services conducted in both English and Mandarin to cater to its multi-lingual community.
