One of the best things that happened to me this weekend was being surprised to see a great friend again who had left Venezuela in 2021 and was returning home once more to be with his family and friends. His visit was short, since he had to return again. That's why I tell you that we enjoyed every day he was here to the fullest, and that's why, before he left, I had to take him to see the new coffee shops that have opened so we could enjoy a good coffee in the company of an old friend and have a unique moment that he could take with him as a great memory.
This is a friend who also likes to drink a lot of coffee, but once he emigrated to Argentina, he gave up coffee and started drinking the classic drink there, which is mate, something that represents them as coffee represents us Venezuelans. They are two different drinks, each with its own way of being prepared, But what this friend tells me is that it also serves as a way to get together and share a great moment with that mate. Despite that, when he was here visiting, I offered him coffee, and I definitely hope to try mate someday and see if I like it or not.
We left in the afternoon so we could explore our city a little and then go to the café that I like so much and have reviewed in the community, something that was totally new to this friend of mine. I had to see his reaction when he walked in and saw what a great, comfortable atmosphere it has, full of shelves and special machines for making coffee. So we took a table and stayed in the café, enjoying our little get-together and chatting away, since it had been almost four years since I last saw him. Then we looked at the menu, which listed everything available that day, and the variety of things the café offered was truly incredible.
To start, we ordered some lattes accompanied by some sweets. The latte was simple, something we all like, so it was a great choice. It took a few minutes to arrive at the table, and once it did, we were surprised by its great design and admirable presentation. My friend was a little hesitant, as he had just been drinking mate, and that change doesn't always go down well with everyone. That's why he said he didn't like the first few sips of that latte, but then he kept drinking and got back into the taste of coffee, especially from that café.
To accompany these coffees, we ordered some delicious sweets that I had never seen before. It was definitely a great choice by everyone, and we were able to order some sweets that were like strawberry meringues, which were the best, as they were very elegant, but the only downside was that they were very small, and as a sweet lover, I needed at least two to be happy. We all loved the combination of the strawberry pastry and the coffee with milk, something I hadn't had in a long time. My friend from Argentina was very happy, as it's very difficult to find there, so he enjoyed every bite and every strawberry in the pastry.
I really enjoyed sharing that moment with my friend and my brother, something we will never forget, and I don't know when we will do something like that again, since in a few hours my great friend José will be catching a flight back to Argentina, which is very far from Venezuela. However, I'll always have that great memory and outing we had together, doing something we all enjoy, which is having a good cup of coffee and chatting, so we can keep up with what's going on in each other's lives. So, friends, once again, I invite you to visit this great coffee shop, enjoy the best products, and have a good time.
