Honestly, this question hits deep when I gave it a thought and that alone is very discouraging, because in Nigeria, earning more money is not easy at all. Sometimes it feels like no matter how hard you work, the system just finds a way to drain your effort. People hustle every single day, morning till night, and still, the money no dey last.
Here, you can have talent, you can have skills, but if you don’t have connection or luck, it’s like you’re invisible. Most young people I know are doing two or three things just to survive working 9–5, doing small business on the side, even freelancing online. We’ve turned into multi-talented hustlers, not because we want to, but because the country no give us choice.
Sometimes, it feels unfair. You see someone working so hard, but they can’t afford basic things, while another person that knows the “right people” is earning big doing half the work. That thing dey pain.
The truth is, Nigeria is full of opportunities, but it’s also full of barriers. The cost of living is rising every day, but salary no dey move. Fuel price, food, rent everything just goes up, and people are still earning the same. So even when you try to save, something must come up to swallow it.
But still, I won’t lie Nigerians are strong people. We always find a way to survive. Some of us are turning to online work, learning digital skills, trading, or even doing small content creation. The internet has opened small door for people to earn in dollars, and that one don help a lot of youths.
So, is it easy to earn more in Nigeria? Not really. But possible? Yes. You just have to work smarter, not only harder. You have to find your lane and keep pushing, because here, nobody is coming to rescue you, you have to rescue yourself.
At the end of the day, we just want a system that rewards effort, not connection. Until then, the hustle continues.
