Life it not always about doing what you want at the same time you, sometimes we just had to bend to the situation at hand that's why I sit and wonder if it’s really okay to work on weekends or not. You know, during the week everybody is rushing waking up early, going to work, chasing deadlines. By the time it’s Friday, many people are already tired, yet some of us still carry our work into Saturday and even Sunday.
When I was younger, I used to think people who work weekends are the most serious ones in life. I used to tell myself, “If I rest too much, I’ll fall behind, that was my thought then until I realize not even all people work in the week days their work is scheduled for weekends. But still, I realized that the body and mind also need space to breathe. Leisure time is not laziness; it’s part of living.
Having weekends off helps you connect with yourself again. You have refreshment and relief of work stress, You can spend time with family, rest your brain, watch a movie, or just sleep without alarm waking you. It gives peace of mind and strength for a new week. In Nigeria, many people work every day, even on Sunday, because life is hard and bills don’t wait. But the truth is, if you break down, the work will still continue without you. That's to say healthy body this the work.
Still, I understand that sometimes you must work on weekends maybe to meet a deadline or earn extra money. That’s fine, as long as it doesn’t become every weekend that's it. The problem starts when you forget to rest completely.
Work will always be there, but your body is not a machine. A little rest, some laughter, small food, and quiet time can make you more productive than working non-stop.
At the end of the day, balance is the key. Work hard, yes but never forget to live a happy relaxation life.
