When talking about places that enjoy power supply in ile ife, osun state, Ibadan road area is among the best of them.I once lived there, and the power supply in that area was very reliable. There is a big, powerful line and a KVA transformer close to the community, and because of that, electricity hardly ever goes off for long time. It just almost natural, like day and night, that normally there must be and there must be night and if power went off for a short while, everyone knew it would soon return. My phone, laptop, and other gadgets no too dey suffered, and daily life was much easier with sure power electricity.

However, my experience was totally changed when I moved to Opa area in Ife. The difference was like night and day. In Opa, the power supply is very poor. Sometimes, the community could go two or three days without electricity. And sometimes you will see light in one street and the others street won't have, at first I don't understand until I was told that they are used to shifting method and I was like wow is it supposed be like this, and even when dey bring the light, it would either be very low or last only for a short time and e go be like frustration. Simple tasks like ironing clothes or charging a phone go be a real struggle. Living in that situation was sadly, especially after enjoying steady light at Ibadan Road.

What made the situation worse in Opa is the billing system. Despite the poor electricity supply, the electricity company (popularly called NEPA) often brought very high bills. Many times, the amount written did not reflect the actual power we used. People ended up paying far more than they consumed, and this has in many situation caused serious disagreements between the residents, youths in the community, and even the landlords do raise voice in meetings. I personally witnessed situations where the youths confronted NEPA officials because the bills were simply unfair.

Me, from my own experience, I go say From my experience, I will take say that electricity supply in Ile-Ife is not the same everywhere. While Ibadan Road people dey enjoys steady and reliable power, Opa residents dey there dey struggle with poor supply and unfair billing. The gap is too wide, and it creates unnecessary stress among for the people living in those areas. I truly hope that one day the electricity situation will improve so that everyone can enjoy stable power supply, no matter which part of Ife dey live in.
