If I tell you say na my coach will be the person that go be my inspiration, I could not even believe it cos in the start as a player I no go gree for him because as he has is own plan on field I have my own but as time went on we later understand each and it has been very helpful to me since then.
in my university days. I was a footballer in school team, not the best one, but I love the game. That man, Coach Daniel (we all just call him Coach D), change the way I look at football and even life.
At first when I join the team, I was shy and not so confident. I use to make small mistakes on the pitch and sometimes I even think maybe football is not for me. But Coach D sometimes shout at me the way some other coaches I knew will never do. Instead he call me one day and say, “Listen, talent is good but discipline and heart is better. Don’t give up on yourself.” That simple words remain in my head till today. That great quote has really been helpful to keep me going in all Ventures of my life.
He was the type of person that believe in every player. He go push us hard, make us run, make us practice again and again until we almost like tired finish but still he go smile and encourage us. I remember one time we lose a big match, and all of us were sad and eye red like some team player dey cry. Coach D come inside the dressing room, sit down on the floor with us and say, “Today we lose, but we still stand. Tomorrow we win.” That day I understand that failure is not the end, it is just a step.
Even till presently now after university, me and Coach D still dey communicate. Sometimes he call me and ask how life dey going. Sometimes I go send him message just to greet. He is not just a coach to me, just is like a father figure, someone who want to see you grow not only in the game but in life entirely
What I do learn from him is that inspiration don’t come from big speech or giving huge amount of money. It come from someone who go show you love, discipline and belief. That is what i think about inspiration, I always remember my university coach. He is still my role model till today.
