In life, everybody cannot be rich, some people will still be poor, and it is our duty as human being to look after one another. I always believe that helping the needy should not just be the work of one person alone, but also government, church, mosque and even schools have big role to play in this matter.
Government is the first one that people look up to. If government provide good job, health care and social support, many poor people will not suffer too much. But many time, our leaders fail to do this. In my own area, we see people begging on the street while politician ride big car. I always feel bad, because government should be the hand that lift the poor, not the one that ignore them.
Church and mosque also carry big responsibility. I have seen with my eyes how some churches organize food and clothing for the less privilege, and how mosque share zakat to the needy during Ramadan. These things really touch life, and assuming the government do this too occasionally it would have been helpful to many, because religion is not only about prayer but also about kindness. When church or mosque forget the poor, then they are missing the real teaching of God.
Schools too must not be left behind, I believe they have their own role too But education is one of the strongest way to break poverty. But many children drop out because of school fees or no book to learn with. I remember when I was in secondary school, one of my classmate nearly drop out, but school give him scholarship and today he is graduate. That little help change his whole story.
The truth is, if all these institutions government, church, mosque and schools join hands together to support the needy, the world will be more better. Poverty may not disappear totally, but at least it will reduce and people will live with hope.
For me, helping the less privilege is not only about giving money, it is about showing love and giving opportunity. Everybody deserve chance to live good life.
