They say money talks, but honestly, in this world, money doesn’t just talk it shouts. It decides who gets respect, who gets ignored, and sometimes even who gets believed. The moment you have money, people start seeing you differently. Even your voice starts sounding louder to them, same words you said before, but now they listen.
In Nigeria, I’ve seen it play out so many times. You can be smart, hardworking, and kind, but if you’re broke, people treat you like your opinions don’t matter. But once money enter your hand, suddenly everyone want to hear your advice, your story, your idea. It’s almost funny, but also sad.
Money speaks everywhere in politics, in church, in relationships, even in friendship. Sometimes it’s not about who is right or wrong, it’s about who can afford to be heard. And when money starts talking, truth often goes silent.
I’ve been in situations where I knew I was right, but nobody listened, because the other person had money and “connections.” That feeling of being invisible just because your pocket is empty… it humbles you.
But I also understand that money has its place. It gives comfort, it opens doors, it buys freedom that words can’t. It gives people confidence, and honestly, we all need that kind of security in life. But when money starts to control people’s respect for others, that’s where the problem begins.
The truth you all know and very sure of is money speaks louder in places where people are struggling. Because when survival is hard, everyone listens to the one who can help them eat. That’s just reality.
So yeah, money speaks in fact, sometimes it screams. But I still believe character and kindness should have a voice too. Because at the end, when the money stops talking, it’s who you really are that still remains.
