It’s strange, isn’t it? How we still miss people who never really showed up for us. People who left us hanging, ignored our efforts, made us feel small and yet, somehow, we still find ourselves thinking about them.
I’ve caught myself missing people who barely cared. Not because they did something special, but maybe because of what I hoped they would be. I think sometimes we don’t miss the person — we miss the idea of them. The version we created in our head, the one who never really existed.
There’s a certain sadness, i mean it somehow insane realizing that. You remember the good parts, the little smiles in your memory, the late-night chats, the way they made you feel seen and happy even if it was temporary. But you also remember the silence, the unanswered messages, the times they were never really there when you needed them most.
Still, the heart will holds on to like it doesn’t get the memo that your mind already moved on. Sometimes It’s very crazy how emotions work. Sometimes missing someone isn’t about love anymore it’s just the echo of a feeling that once meant something.
I used to beat myself up for it, wondering why I couldn’t just forget it's a hard part of me. But I’ve learned that missing someone doesn’t always mean you want them back. It just means they were part of a moment that mattered to you. A chapter you can’t rewrite, no matter how much it hurt.
So yeah, I think maybe we don’t really miss them we miss the peace we thought they brought, the comfort we imagined they gave, the person we wanted them to be.
And that’s okay. It’s part of what makes us being human.
Because even when people fail us, our hearts still remember the hope.
