Hello to my dear Hivers, and especially to my community of great artists and talents of #HiveDIY. I wish you many, many blessings in every step you take each day of your lives. Today I am with you to participate in the contest of the week, "Patchwork world".

I tell you that I don't use to work much with fabrics, nor sew, I just do it usually. But as a craftswoman and manualist you have to take new challenges and more if we like to create, now well, I have always preferred to work with small pieces, for those who know me know that I am inclined by the part of jewelry and accessories, so I decided for today to make a heart-shaped pendant applying the technique of Patchwork.

It may not be the same as making a bag, cushion, rug, or an endless number of things that take more fabrics, I just wanted to show you what humbly came to my mind, I like to work, and it was in my hands to do applying the beautiful technique. You only need a few scraps of bluejeans fabric and printed synthetic fabric, basic threads and some embroidery thread, appliques, beads to decorate and other little things, and you will have a nice piece which can be used as a keychain, to decorate a casual purse, as a pendant for cell phone, in short, you can give it the use that best suits your taste and needs.

Hola a mis queridos Hivers, y en especial a mi comunidad de grandes artistas y talentos de #HiveDIY. Les deseo muchísimas bendiciones en cada paso que den cada día de sus vidas. Hoy me encuentro con ustedes para participar en el concurso de la semana, "Patchwork world".

Les cuento que no acostumbro a trabajar mucho con telas, ni a coser, solo lo hago usualmente. Pero como artesana y manualista hay que tomar nuevos retos y más si nos gusta crear, ahora bien, siempre he preferido trabajar con piezas pequeñas, para los que me conocen saben que me inclino por la parte de bisutería y accesorios, por esto decidí para el día de hoy hacerles un colgante en forma de corazón aplicando la técnica de Patchwork.

Quizás no sea igual que realizar un bolso, cojín, tapete, o un sin fin de cosas que llevan más telas, solo quise mostrarles lo que humildemente vino a mi mente, me gusta trabajar, y estuvo en mis manos hacer aplicando la bonita técnica. No necesitan sino solo unos cuantos retazos de tela de bluejeans y tela sintética estampada, hilos básicos de cocer y algún hilo de bordar, apliques, perlas para decorar y otras cositas más, y tendrán una bonita pieza la cual pueden usar como llavero, para adornar una cartera casual, cómo colgante para celular, en fin, pueden darle el uso que más se adapte a su gusto y necesidades.

  • Let's start by taking a white sheet, we paint two hearts that will be our patterns to cut the fabric, with a pencil we paint the first heart which I made of 5.5cms in height, and the second one I made of 4.5cms in height. You can make it in the size of your preference depending on the size of the pendant. With a scissors we cut out the hearts.

  • We are going to take the smallest heart and a piece of printed fabric, we cut the fabric according to the pattern (we reserve).

  • Now we take the larger heart and two pieces of bluejeans fabric and we will cut two hearts according to the pattern (we reserve).

• Vamos a comenzar tomando una hoja blanca, pintamos dos corazones que serán nuestros patrones para cortar la tela, con un lápiz pintamos el primer corazón el cual hice de 5,5cms de altura, y el segundo lo realicé de 4,5cms de altura. Lo pueden realizar del tamaño de su preferencia según deseen el tamaño del colgante. Con una tijera recortamos los corazones.

• Vamos a tomar el corazón más pequeño y un trozo de tela estampada, cortamos la tela según el patrón. (Reservamos).

• Ahora tomamos el corazón mas grande y dos trozos de tela de bluejeans y vamos a cortar dos corazones según el patrón. (Reservamos).

  • Now we are going to stitch the printed heart to one of the big hearts that we cut out of bluejeans fabric, we take a needle with dark blue thread, and we are going to join making some basic basting stitches, making long and equal stitches, try to make them as harmonic as possible so that they look pretty.

  • Let's decorate our heart, I got some flowers, some pearls and proceed to sew them in some points of the heart in the center, I did this with a lighter thread. You can place the details that you like the most.

• Ahora vamos a cocer el corazón estampado a uno de los corazones grandes que cortamos en tela de bluejeans, tomamos una aguja con hilo de azul oscuro, y vamos a unir haciendo unas puntadas hilván básicas, haciendo puntadas largas e iguales, tratemos de hacerlas lo mas armónicas posible para que luzcan bonitas.

• Vamos a adornar nuestro corazón, conseguí algunas flores, unas perlitas y procedo a cocerlas en algunos puntos del corazón del centro, esto lo hice con un hilo más claro. Ustedes pueden colocar los detalles que más les guste.

  • Now let's take a piece of cardboard and with it we are going to cut a heart-shaped template of the same size of the smaller one of 4.5cms in height, we already had a pattern that we cut in a white daughter and we repeat it on the cardboard. We are going to use this cardboard to place it inside our keychain to give it firmness, since I decided not to fill it. If you wish you can make it stuffed, I give you the ideas, you do it as you like.

  • Let's take the cardboard and the piece of Chinese thread, we glue both ends with white glue to the cardboard on the front and back so that the thread does not come off when we are going to join the hearts, then we will reinforce them when we bake the pieces. Place them on one side of the heart, we can also do it in the center.

  • Now we are going to join and bake our pendant, we take the decorated heart, the cardboard with the thread and the other bluejeans heart, we join the three pieces and then proceed to bake around the edge.

  • First we are going to reinforce the Chinese thread that we put on the pendant, with the fine needle and light colored thread we make a few small stitches so that they are completely attached to the fabric. Don't worry if any thread detail is visible, since it won't be noticed when decorating the edge of the heart.

• Ahora tomemos un trozo de cartón y con el vamos a picar una plantilla en forma de corazón del mismo tamaño del más pequeño de 4,5cms de altura, ya teníamos un patrón que picamos en una hija blanca lo repetimos en el cartón. Este cartón lo vamos a utilizar para colocarlo por dentro a nuestro llavero para darle firmeza, ya que decidí no rellenarlo. Si ustedes lo desean pueden hacerlo relleno, yo les doy las ideas ustedes lo hacen a su gusto.

• Tomemos el cartón y el trozo de hilo chino, pegamos ambas puntas con cola blanca al cartón por la parte delantera y trasera para que no se salga el hilo cuando vayamos a unir los corazones, luego las reforzaremos al cocer las piezas. Se las coloque a un lado del corazón, también lo podemos hacer en el centro.

• Ahora vamos a unir, y cocer nuestro colgante, tomamos el corazón adornado, el cartón con el hilo y el otro corazón de bluejeans, unimos las tres piezas para luego proceder a cocer por el borde.

• Primero vamos a reforzar el hilo chino que pusimos al colgante, con la aguja fina e hilo color claro hacemos unas pequeñas puntadas para que quedan totalmente unidas a la tela. No se preocupen si se ve algún detalle de hilo, ya que al decorar el borde del corazón no se va a notar.

• Tomamos una aguja gruesa e hilo crochet color azul oscuro, y vamos a realizar por todo el borde del corazón puntadas de sobrehilado o también llamadas puntada de ojal para decorar, en esta puntada se mete la aguja un poco más abajo del borde y cuando empiece a aparecer la aguja por el borde, se enrolla el hilo por la parte de atrás.   • I decided to embellish the Chinese thread rope with some wooden beads of different colors that I had available to add a nice detail that gives it more delicacy and attractiveness.

  • To finish, I tied a sliding knot at the end of the thread and placed a large costume jewelry ring and a parrot's beak locking ring.
    In this way we have ready our heart pendant with the Patchwork technique, which we can use to hang on a keychain, cell phone, in a wallet, or somewhere you want to decorate.

• Decidí adornar la cuerda de hilo chino con algunas perlas de madera de diversos colores que tenía disponible para agregarle un detalle bonito que le dé mayor delicadez y vistosidad.

• Para finalizar realice un nudo corredizo en la punta del hilo y coloque una argolla de bisutería grande, y un trancadero pico de loro.


De esta manera tenemos listo nuestro colgante de corazón con la técnica Patchwork, el cual podemos usar para colgar en un llavero, celular, en una cartera, o en algún lugar que desees adornar.
