Welcome to a new blog, this time I want to talk about a short animated film created by Sanni Lahtinen called piirongin piiloissa, one of the things I love most about this type of work is the behind the scenes and knowing all the effort, dedication and patience that goes into a few minutes of video, since we are talking about a technique that must be captured frame by frame which involves thousands of frames, for me it is like a work of art in animation and cinema.
Bienvenido a un nuevo blog, en esta oportunidad quiero hablar de un pequeño corto animado creado por Sanni Lahtinen llamado piirongin piiloissa, una de las cosas que más me encanta de este tipo de trabajo, es el detrás de cámaras y saber todo el esfuerzo, dedicación y paciencia que hay en unos pocos minutos de video, ya que hablemos de una técnica que se debe capturar de fotograma a fotograma lo cual conlleva miles de fotogramas, para mi es como una obra de arte de la animación y del cine.
The story has no subtitles or anyone speaking, we will only see a character who is inside a room, and whose body is made up of many drawers, where as the short progresses, we see how he starts his day, from the sound of the alarm clock which he puts in a drawer, and then continues putting away the sheet with which he sleeps in another drawer, in those first minutes we see how he handles a typical morning routine, but with the detail that this character does not move anywhere, but everything he needs he has inside his drawers.
La historia no tiene subtitulos ni nadie hablando, solo veremos un personaje que se encuentra dentro de una habitación, y que su cuerpo esta compuesto de muchas gavetas, donde a medida que avanza el corto, vemos como inicia su día, desde el sonido del despertador el cual guarda en una gaveta, y luego continua guardando la sabana con la que duerme en otra gaveta, en esos primeros minutos vemos como se maneja en una típica rutina mañanera, pero con el detalle de que este personaje no se mueve para ningún lado, si no que todo lo que necesita lo tiene dentro de sus gavetas.

We can see that this is a very organized person who likes to have everything under control and in order, because after using each item he needs, he puts it back in his drawer in a very precise order. But while he's cleaning and organizing his drawers, a small intruder slowly creeps in, which we can't see, but which leaves a trail on the wall behind the character. He doesn't notice it at first, but after he goes to sleep and the next morning dawns, the chaos begins for our character.
Podemos ver que se trata de una persona que es sumamente organizada y le gusta tener todo bajo control y en orden, porque luego de utilizar cada cosa que necesita, la vuelve a guardar en su gaveta con un orden muy preciso. Pero mientras se encuentra limpiando y organizando sus gavetas, poco a poco se va introduciendo un pequeño intruso el cual no logramos ver, pero que va dejando un rastro en la pared detrás del personaje, algo que no logra notar en un inicio, pero que luego que se va a dormir y amanece la mañana siguiente, comenzará el caos para nuestro personaje.
When she wakes up, upon opening the first drawer she realizes that something is not right, as she begins to find new objects where she previously had all her belongings well organized, something that undoubtedly began to bother her because nothing is in its place and there was complete chaos inside her drawers, which makes her end up doing something she had never done before, completely taking out each of the drawers to find the intruder.
Cuando se despierta, al abrir la primera gaveta se da cuenta que algo no anda bien, ya que comienza a encontrar nuevos objetos donde anteriormente tenia todas sus pertenencias bien ordenadas, algo que sin duda comenzó a molestarla porque nada esta en su lugar y había un completo caos dentro de sus gavetas, lo que hace que termine haciendo algo que antes nunca había hecho, sacar por completo cada una de las gavetas para poder encontrar al intruso.

It is here when after taking out the last drawer, he realizes that he has another one on his back and when he tries to reach what is inside, he sees how the stranger comes out through the wall leaving a small saw in the hole that he had previously made to enter the room, and it is here when our character peeks his eyes through the hole and realizes that there is something beyond the wall and begins to saw to discover that new world.
Es aquí cuando luego de sacar la ultima gaveta, se da cuenta que tiene otra en la espalda y cuando intenta alcanzar lo que hay dentro, observa como el extraño sale por la pared dejándole un pequeño serrucho en el agujero que anteriormente había hecho para ingresar a la habitación, y es aquí cuando nuestro personaje asoma sus ojos por el agujero y se da cuenta que hay algo más allá de la pared y comienza a serruchar para descubrir ese mundo nuevo.
This is a story that can certainly be interpreted in many ways, since we do not have a dialogue, nor a monologue, nor subtitles that narrate the story, it is only left to the interpretation of each viewer, and in my case I can feel very identified with the part of the organization, because I love order and having everything under control, I am a person who has a hard time handling chaos or disorder and when I have had to live it, I feel that it unbalances my day a little, I get stressed and I do not feel calm, and this applies to everything, both to the order in my room, at home, at work, in my personal life, if I do not have an order or a guide, I feel like I am lost, and the same thing happens when I am doing a job and they change the dynamics suddenly, it is something that generates a lot of stress and it is difficult for you to adapt.
Esta es una historia que sin duda se puede interpretar de muchas maneras, ya que no tenemos un dialogo, ni un monologo, ni subtitulos que narre la historia, solo queda a interpretación de cada espectador, y en mi caso puedo sentirme muy identificada con la parte de la organización, porque me encanta el orden y tener todo bajo control, soy una persona que le cuesta manejar el caos o el desorden y cuando me ha tocado vivirlo, siento que me desequilibra un poco mi día, me estreso y no me siento tranquila, y esto aplica para todo, tanto para el orden en mi habitación, en la casa, en el trabajo, en mi vida persona, si no llevo un orden o una guía, siento que me pierdo, y lo mismo sucede cuando estoy haciendo un trabajo y me cambian la dinámica de improvisto, es algo que genera mucho estrés y te cuesta acoplarte.
But that's what life is about, changes. We won't always be able to maintain order or absolute control over things. There will be times when changes occur, whether it's a move, a new job, a new project, people who come into your life to teach you something or generate changes, and even accidents that come to change your life completely, because no one knows what the future holds, we only know our past and our present.
Pero de eso se trata la vida, de los cambios, no siempre podremos mantener el orden o el control absoluto de las cosas, habran momentos donde se presentaran cambios, ya sea una mudanza, un nuevo trabajo, un nuevo proyecto, personas que llegan a tu vida a dejar una enseñanza o ha generar cambios, e inclusos accidentes que llegan para cambiar tu vida completamente, porque nadie conoce que nos depara el futuro, solo conocemos nuestro pasado y nuestro presente.
So, this short allows us to relate to it in different ways, and I invite you to leave your comments if you've seen it. Although the character isn't the prettiest aesthetically, as she's a bit scary at first, I thought it was an excellent piece of work by its creator and the quality with which she recreated this interesting story.
