Hey lovelies ❤️ It's your favorite girl @debbie-ese 😍 Welcome to my blog 🤗

This is my first participation in the IndiaUnited Weekly Contest and I'm happy to be sharing my thoughts on this thought-provoking theme. I also commend the #IndiaUnited team for hosting the contest every week - it is not easy to host and go through each entries to pick winners because I have read so many amazing ones.

Without further ado, may I share my thoughts on the theme: A Tradition or Ritual That Means a Lot to you?

All over the world there are traditions and rituals that mean a lot to different people which shape their life and existence as human being. Some of these traditions are carried out daily, weekly, monthly and even yearly. Personally, one notable tradition that hold deep meaning and shapes my life is cleanliness. For the sake of this contest, I will be focusing on cleanliness in terms of my space, whether it is my home or business space.

Cleanliness is more than doing house chores to me, it is a way of getting ready to function to at my 100. If you want to see me look morose or gloomy all day just put me in a dirty environment. You would have successfully activated the unproductive button in my system. I simply cannot function effectively in a space that is unkempt or disorganized. This is the reason why no matter how stressed I feel I would still make out time to sweep and mop the house on a daily basis. It is not an easy ritual but it is highly important for me.

I have encountered quite a number of challenges due to my cleanliness tradition and I will be sharing some with you to drive my point home. Those days in the University, I remember always having this back-and-forths with my roommate during our early months. She wasn't exactly untidy but her level of cleanliness didn't match mine. So, this caused some intense altercations between two roommates. What transpired?

It is expected that when you live with someone the responsibilities such as cleaning, paying for electricity bills, cooking (depending on the closen) should be shared. But I discovered that I found myself cleaning up our space more often, tidying the mess she often creates like cooking and leaving the pot all soaked up in dirty water and I started feeling like I was being taken for granted.

After some months of constant heated arguments and complaints from both sides we learned to communicate our differences and do things right. However, the experience taught me that it may be difficult to adequately practice your personal tradition if you are in someone's space such as a roommate that you don't have a total.

I have maintained the tradition of experiencing a clean space over the years and it has helped me to operate at my best. I don't even deliberate about keeping my space clean because if I don't I may begin to have serious headache or feeling discomfort in my body system.

My cleaning tradition and ritual is not only about sweeping or mopping my space but it transcends to creating a space that allows me focus and function properly. It may look like a trivial tradition to some people but it is indeed an important one for me.
