Hey lovelies ❤️ It's your favorite girl @debbie-ese 😍 Welcome to my blog 🤗

In this post I will be sharing with you a gown I made for a customer using blue-yellow star ankara fabrics. The fabric is colourful and vibrant with multiple patterns and it is also a cotton fabric. This fabric have been in existence for a long time and it is still very relevant in own modern day fashion. Those days, it is often used to make blouse and wrapper but today we use it to sew fancy styles ranging from gown to blazer and so on.
Materials Needed - 4 yards Ankara fabrics - Hemming gum - Zip - Bias - Tailoring chalk - Matching threads
Step by Step
- Start by drafting the measurements on the fabric using gown length (62"), bust (47"), waist (45") and shoulder (16").

- The shoulder measurement (16") will be divided by 2 which will give us 8", then the bust (47") will be divided by 4 which will be 11.75" and waist (45") will also be divided by 4 which will give 11 25".
- The gown is a maxi gown, that is it will be free flowing from the waist downwards, so it means we'd take 19" from the hem of the gown which will be connected to the waist.

-
Next, cut out the pattern you have drafted on the fabric and use the front piece to cut the back piece and make provision for zipper.

-
Since we are not use lining for the dress, you'd need to cut out an interface using the same fabric which will be used to turn the front neck and back neck.
- Next, use your sewing machine to turn the front and back pieces of the neck using the interface you had cut. Then for the neckline to lap well you can nudge the inner allowance.

- Then give it a good press and use hemming gum to gum it appropriately to ensure its always well positioned.
- Then attach your zip and iron the midline of the zipper very well.

- Now, join the shoulders (back and front), then shape all the way down using the 1" allowance you left.
- Next, cut and attach your pockets to both sides of the dress.
-
Then, hem the down part of the gown and give it a good press.

-
You can invite the customer for fitting or use your mannequin to check for any adjustments.
Thanks for reading and see you in my next one.
