‎I bring you all greetings from this part of the world in my sewing room, I hope you are doing great just as I am having a nice time with my sewing project. It's a beautiful day out here with a friendly weather giving us a cool and gentle breeze. It's with great pleasure that I will be sharing with you today the cutting and sewing process of a native  half butterfly bubu dress for my mommy friend. ‎

‎ ‎Let me take you through the cutting and sewing process ‎ ‎For this dress I used 6yard of African Ankara print not for the bubu alone there will be scarf to tie. I cut the back and the front together but for the back I added 2inches for the zipper allowance then place it on top of each other ‎ ‎It a butterfly bubu dress so it's different from the way we cut my normal bubu ‎

‎After input the horizontal line then I move to the vertical part begin with the neck make use of 5 by 5 and for the back I don't want it to be to low for her I make use of 5 by 4 the other part with serve for the sleeve 12" come down by 1.5 for to the shoulder slope. On the vertical i input her hip measurement and the butterfly stop after the hip from the hip I come down by 2inches placed the same measurement of the hip on that part then make a curve from shoulder area down to the place and added 1inches seam allowance then connect down to the length of the dress then cut

Stitching process

Finally, I cut out facing for the front and the back block of the dress. I run stitches on it turn it out and press it. for the style am working with it has front design and I need get the remade lace neck trim for the dress but the cost of getting it is high and she wanted to change the style then I told her not to worry I will make a unique design out of it.

firstly chalk out the neck on the front block, take it to sewing machine to begin with it.

It a V neck shape placed the trim to form the shape then I place another one making two layer and for the remaining part I cut small trimming to cover up the space. Wow I can't believe the outcome will look great.

Proceed with join the shoulder then I tape the butterfly side with bias before fixing the trimming round it then shape the dress, ‎It has slit at the back and I don't want it open I make a pleated at that area

‎ ‎For the pleated slit at the back, I cut out 15 x 20" from the remaining pieces making sure the pattern on the fabric align with the pleat ‎ ‎

‎It was hemmed and sewn to both sides of the slit before it was pleated to 1" above the slit opening on the wrong side ‎ ‎ ‎Next thing was to fix the zipper and hem the down
