A day at Raibl Geomineral Park

ENG Good evening friends and welcome back to my blog, Today I bring you to discover the **Raibl Geomineral Park**, located in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region (Italy). This mine was very important in the last century regarding the **extraction of lead and zinc in Europe**. Since **1990** it has no longer been active, but it has transformed into a very interesting visitable **museum** for school groups and geology enthusiasts.

Questa miniera è stata molto importante nel secolo scorso per quanto riguarda l’**estrazione del piombo e dello zinco in Europa**. Dal **1990** non è più attiva, ma si è trasformata in un **museo** visitabile molto interessante per le scolaresche e gli appassionati di geologia.

The mine consisted of a network of **120 km of tunnels**, arranged on 19 levels, which went down to a **depth of 520 metres**. During the visit, it’s possible to discover the minerals that were extracted and the different **engineering techniques**.

La miniera era costituita da un reticolo di **120 km di gallerie**, disposte su 19 livelli, che scendevano fino a **520 metri di profondità**. Durante la visita, è possibile scoprire i minerali che venivano estratti e le diverse **tecniche ingegneristiche**.

I had never visited a mine before, but I must admit that it was a really interesting experience! The visit lasts about **two hours** and it was really intense walking through the tunnels in the dark. Mining is a job that has been almost completely **replaced by technology** in modern society and this makes us reflect on the **progress of science**.

Non avevo mai visitato una miniera prima d’ora, ma devo ammettere che è stata un’esperienza davvero interessante! La visita dura circa **due ore** ed è stato davvero intenso percorrere le gallerie nel buio. Il minatore è un lavoro che è stato quasi completamente **sostituito dalla tecnologia** nella società moderna e questo fa riflettere sul **progresso della scienza**.
