Good morning Hivers friends!
Just when we thought we could **wake up from winter**, this weekend the weather decided to give us a surprise. Starting from Friday, **temperatures dropped significantly** and even **snow** arrived in Northern Italy!
Honestly, it's been years since I've seen such heavy snowfall at the end of February. For me, this is a positive aspect, because **I love snowy landscapes**.
I took advantage of the opportunity to take a trip out of town, a couple of hours away by car. The best place to appreciate snow is definitely the mountains, and the choice fell on the **Dolomites in the Veneto region**.

Proprio quando pensavamo di poter **risvegliarci dall’inverno**, questo fine settimana il meteo ha deciso di regalarci una sorpresa. A partire da venerdì, le **temperature si sono sensibilmente abbassate** e al Nord Italia è arrivata persino la **neve**!
Onestamente, erano anni che non vedevo una nevicata così abbondante a fine febbraio. Per me è un aspetto positivo, perché **adoro i paesaggi innevati**.
Ho approfittato dell’occasione per fare una gita fuori porta, a un paio d’ore di distanza di auto. Il posto migliore per apprezzare la neve è sicuramente la montagna, e la scelta è ricaduta sulle **Dolomiti nella regione Veneto**.
In particular, we visited two delightful villages in the **province of Belluno**: Alleghe and Agordo.
**Alleghe** is a municipality located **1000 meters above sea level** and is mainly famous as a tourist destination for **ski and snowboard enthusiasts**. There are over **80 km** of ski slopes, with ski lifts to reach panoramic points and mountain refuges.
There is also a **lake**, which when the temperatures are very low becomes completely frozen and you can go **skating**, although the locals told us that it hasn't frozen completely for several years now... In our case the temperature was 2 °C. Despite this, it was still a **wonderful discovery**!
In particolare, abbiamo visitato due paesini deliziosi della **provincia di Belluno**: Alleghe e Agordo.
**Alleghe** è un comune situato a **1000 metri sul livello del mare** ed è famoso principalmente come meta turistica per **appassionati di sci e snowboard**. Sono presenti oltre **80 km** di piste da sci, con impianti di risalita per raggiungere i punti panoramici e i rifugi montani.
È presente anche un **lago**, che quando le temperature sono molto basse diventa tutto di ghiaccio ed è possibile praticare il **pattinaggio**, anche se gli abitanti del luogo ci hanno detto che ormai è da diversi anni che non ghiaccia più completamente… Nel nostro caso la temperatura era di 2 °C. Nonostante questo, è stato comunque una **bellissima scoperta**!
**Agordo** is a town **600 meters above sea level** and is located a few minutes away from Alleghe.
Here it’s very pleasant to walk through the streets of the **historic center**, where there are **typical shops** selling mountain clothing and souvenirs. We also saw some **craftsmen** working with wood.
The main attractions are the small and pretty churches and the Municipio.
The most wonderful aspect is that Agordo is completely **surrounded by the Dolomites**: wherever you turn, you only see woods and mountains as far as the eye can see. This is very fascinating!
**Agordo** è un comune a **600 metri sul livello del mare** e si trova a pochi minuti di distanza da Alleghe.
Qui è molto piacevole passeggiare tra le vie del **centro storico**, dove sono presenti **negozi tipici** di abbigliamento da montagna e souvenir. Abbiamo anche visto qualche **artigiano** che lavorava il legno.
Le attrazioni principali consistono nelle piccole e graziose chiese e nel Municipio.
L’aspetto più meraviglioso è che Agordo è completamente **circondata dalle Dolomiti**: ovunque ti giri, vedi solo bosco e montagne a perdita d’occhio. Questo è molto affascinante!
