Today's adventure is truly special because I bring you to discover the **trulli of Alberobello**.
What are they? We are talking about some ancient architectural structures that have been declared a **UNESCO World Heritage Site**. We are in the province of Bari, in southern Italy.

L’avventura di oggi è decisamente speciale perché vi porto alla scoperta dei **trulli di Alberobello**.
Di cosa si tratta? Sono delle antiche costruzioni architettoniche che sono state dichiarate **patrimonio mondiale dell’umanità dall’UNESCO**. Siamo in provincia di Bari, nel sud Italia.

The trulli are distinguished by the unique feature of being built exclusively using **dry stone**, thanks to the abundance of limestone and karst rock that characterizes this geographical area.
They are peasant dwellings, built in a **round or square shape with a false dome roof** composed of overlapping circles. Above each roof are decorations that were intended to identify the **artist** who created the trullo.
I trulli si distinguono per la particolarità di essere creati esclusivamente **a secco**, grazie all’abbondanza di pietra calcarea e carsica che contraddistingue questa zona geografica.
Si tratta di abitazioni contadine, costruite con **forma rotonda o quadrata e un tetto a falsa cupola**, composto da cerchi sovrapposti. Sopra ogni tetto sono presenti delle decorazioni che avevano lo scopo di indicare l’**artista** che aveva creato il trullo.

One of the most important trulli is called **Trullo Sovrano** and is fourteen meters high.
Over the centuries, its function has changed significantly: first it was a **residence**, then a place of **worship**, and finally a **pharmacy**. Today, it is used to host small theatrical performances and **concerts**.
Uno dei trulli più importanti si chiama **Trullo Sovrano** ed è alto ben quattordici metri.
Nel corso dei secoli cambiò notevolmente la sua funzione: prima era una **dimora**, poi un luogo di **culto** e infine una **farmacia**. Oggi viene utilizzato per ospitare piccoli spettacoli teatrali e **concerti**.
The town of Alberobello has been chosen as a **film set** several times, not only by Italian directors but also by a Hungarian and an American.
Walking through the streets of this charming town makes you **daydream about what life must have been like inside the trulli**. Indeed, today it is almost uninhabited, but in centuries past the town was populated by farming businesses and small shops.

La città di Alberobello è stata più volte scelta come **set cinematografico**, non solo da registi italiani ma anche da un regista ungherese e un americano.
Passeggiare tra le vie di questa suggestiva città fa **sognare ad occhi aperti su come doveva essere la vita all’interno dei trulli**. Infatti, al giorno d’oggi è quasi disabitato, ma nei secoli scorsi la città era popolata di attività contadine e piccole negozi.
