Have you ever visited a fashion museum? Honestly, **it was my first time**, because I've never been passionate about this topic. I know most girls follow trends and love fashion, but I'm an exception.
Today's museum, however, was a **real surprise**. It doesn't deal with clothes in the strict sense of the term, but rather with the **history of fashion**, how it has evolved over time, and the machinery used for sewing.

Avete mai visitato un museo sulla moda? Sinceramente **per me è stata la prima volta**, perché non sono mai stata appassionata di questo argomento. So che la maggior parte delle ragazze segue le tendenze e ama la moda, ma io sono un’eccezione.
Il museo di oggi, però, è stata una **vera e propria sorpresa**. Infatti, non parla degli abiti nel senso stretto del termine, ma della **storia della moda**, di come si è evoluta nel tempo e dei macchinari che servono per cucire.

We are at the **Museum of Fashion and Applied Arts**, in the historic center of **Gorizia** (Friuli-Venezia Giulia).
As I mentioned before, the museum houses an entire section dedicated to the production and weaving of clothing, especially **silk**. In fact, you should know that this region of northern Italy was very important in this sector in past centuries. Gorizia traded its finest silk garments **from the Habsburg Empire to the Orient**.
Siamo al **Museo della Moda e delle Arti Applicate**, nel centro storico di **Gorizia** (Friuli-Venezia Giulia).
Come vi dicevo prima, il museo ospita un’intera sezione dedicata alla produzione e alla tessitura degli abiti, in particolar modo della **seta**. Infatti, dovete sapere che questa regione del nord Italia fu molto importante nei secoli scorsi in questo settore. Gorizia commerciava **dall’Impero asburgico fino all’Oriente** i suoi migliori vestiti di seta.

The most interesting piece of machinery is undoubtedly a **circular loom the size of an entire room**, inside which the craftsman sat and operated it using a mechanical lever, walking backward.
But the museum isn't just about clothes. Some areas are dedicated to **accessories**: jewelry, lace, hats, shoes, bags, and parasols.
The atmosphere in these rooms is decidedly elegant, and walking through them feels like **a journey back in time**!
Il macchinario più interessante è sicuramente un **telaio grande come un’intera stanza**, di forma circolare, all’interno del quale l’artigiano si sedeva e lo azionava grazie a una leva meccanica, camminando all’indietro.
Ma nel museo non ci sono solo vestiti. Alcune zone sono dedicate agli **accessori**: gioielli, merletti, cappellini, scarpe, borse e parasoli.
L’atmosfera di queste stanze è decisamente elegante e, passeggiando nelle varie stanze, sembra di fare un **tuffo nel passato**!

This made me reflect on the extent of the technological progress humans have been able to make in just a few years. Now we have **electric-powered machines**, and the handmade, bespoke garment is almost nonexistent.
**Today's identical, mass-produced clothes** certainly cost less than the precious ones I saw in this museum, but I'm not sure it's been a real improvement for our society.
In fact, to keep prices so low, there are cases of child labor in some areas of the world, and we must not forget this.
The Gorizia Fashion Museum was a truly **interesting experience**, and I would recommend it to anyone visiting the city. I'll leave you with some photos from my visit. **Thanks for reading**!

Questo mi ha fatto riflettere sull’entità del progresso tecnologico che gli esseri umani sono stati in grado di fare nel giro di pochi anni. Adesso abbiamo **macchine alimentate a elettricità** e il capo fatto a mano su misura non esiste quasi più.
**I vestiti di oggi tutti uguali e realizzati in serie** costano sicuramente meno di quelli preziosi che ho potuto vedere in questo museo, ma non sono sicura che sia stato un miglioramento effettivo per la nostra società.
Infatti, per mantenere i prezzi così bassi, in alcune aree del mondo ci sono casi di sfruttamento minorile e questo non dobbiamo dimenticarlo.
Il museo della moda di Gorizia è stata un’**esperienza decisamente interessante** e lo consiglierei a chiunque si trovi a visitare la città. Vi lascio con alcune foto della mia visita. **Grazie per avermi letto**!
